17 Year Old Arrested For Hacking Black Ops

A 17 year old hacker from Manchester, United Kingdom has been arrested for a hack putting Black Ops "Out of Commission". The hack was named "Denial of Service" and left many pc users unable to play the game.

Supposedly a malicious program called "Phenom Booter" was behind this. This was being put up for sale on some forums and it would allow you to score more points on COD and stop others from playing.

Activision was quick to act as they tracked his I.P. address and contacted police to have the kid arrested. He is in custody at the moment and awaiting further assessment. My thoughts when I read this was, "Was that worth it getting arrested for something as dumb as this" I mean come on, you just got yourself in a heap of trouble for a pointless hack that just makes the game unplayable for others. I can understand prestige glitching and etc. But this is taking it a little too far in my opinion. What do you guys think? Should people draw a line on hacking COD?

i se where you're coming from, but this is a little too serious no? yes, i would be pissed if i couldn't play Black Ops, but i wouldn't go and kill myself, i have plenty of other games too enjoy, and yes, i know they want theyre games too be unhackable, but being sentenced for it? thats just taking it too far, perhaps a fine of £100 or something that doesn't mean shit. Although, i think they will use this as a warning, to all other hackers that they are serious and there will be consiquences if they do hack.

Yes but you have to think about EVERYONE its affecting not just yourself. Not that many people have a lot of games. Black Ops is one of those games everyone has in their libraries though. So for this kid to go and deny people play the game would be really annoying to them. And also it's not just a normal hack, the kid DDos'ed the servers, thats serious right there.

fair enough, but was he going too use it in a harmful way? no-ones knows, and i doubt they will. I'm not trying to back up hackers, but i dont think this guy will get anything done too him.
