(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The power of online video game violence has been strongly underestimated by our community. We all know how playing violent video games online can change your emotion's and desensitize people.

I have heard stories about people trying to steal cars, breaking into police stations and attempted robbery, but this one incident i heard about blew me away...

This man by the name of Michael McWhertor who is living in Philadelphia got upset one day because his mom took away his PlayStation 3. He got so enraged that he had (Stated In Court Hearing) planned to have some sort of a clawed hammer and slash him mother in the kitchen, and then stated that he had planned to finish her off with a kitchen chair leg. He reported her missing the next day, but then on his confession he added he would certainly not do it again.

Do it again? Is he kidding me. Look what a little online violence and a thirst for an obsession will do to someone. A young man, killed his mother, not a friend, not a criminal but his mother. The kind of things a game would have to do to you for you to feel that killing your mother will make you feel better or help you De-stress. and then to start breaking out in tears the next day because you wouldn't do it AGAIN! I think he deserves to go to jail. To kill your mother over a taken away PlayStation is not only criminal but disturbing. Please read the link if you want to read the report.

That's all circumstancial, obviously there had been issues building up for him to kill her. The ps3 must have just been the last straw so its unfair to put all the blame on the console

He should be checked for Mental retardation. If he's normal then I say another reason to have "Death Penalty".

No one would kill his mother for any reason. Even if it was the last straw he STILL deserves to be punished.

While such an outrageous act can never be justified I think you're oversimplifying the problem, xTurtleBeach. Because who says there weren't any deeper issues involved with his mom? I find it pretty ludicrous to believe that it was only this one act of taking the playstation away from him that led to his anger and decision to kill her. Something must have been boiling in him for quite a while. Who knows how badly she might have treated him? So in essence, the playstation event might have been just the final straw. But I could go on speculating without getting anywhere...I guess what Im saying is that things are usually a lot more complex and news media have the tendency to hype stuff up with simplifications.
