There refers to a place or location.
Example: Look, fat people live over there.

There is also used with the verb "be" (is, am, are, was, were) to indicate the existence of something, or to mention something for the first time.
Example: Was there a reason to post that there?

Their is possessive.
Example: Their body composes of 90% fat.

They're is a contraction of they are. When using they're, always think, they are.
Example: They're really fat.

Now, time to use all three together.
Warning: This is for experts only!
Example: They're at their house, over there!

You might be wondering why I made this thread. And I do understand that this is not school, but seriously, it makes you look stupid if you repeatedly use the wrong there, their, or they're. Well I am not picking on anybody, but here are a few recent examples of improper use:

guess im just not as active as you are and If i remember correctly were you not a mod a while back? being a mods = lots of posting on random thread closing/matters that need to be resolved only reason why im spamming is since the hacking section got shafted I need to get back in there and no porn is not the reason because my porn logins since like february still work and I wanna see the useful stuff in there and well needless to say im pissed on how private premium just got closed I guess I didn't spam fast enough :\

Its sounds like you are only going into Pvt Premium just to leach and leak porn and file hosting logins. That is pathetic and you are the reason for Pvt Premium getting revamped. Leachers like you make me sick

People who misuse their, they're, and there will probably either disregard or forget this, and therefore they probably will not change. Those of us who attended the first grade and understand English fundamentals won't make those mistakes in the first place.

Using fat as an example, "this is for experts only", it just seems like a spam thread. This is stuff you get taught in school, and if people still don't understand, they're either probably mentally disabled, slow, don't care, or English isn't their first language, so what's the point of this spam thread.. It's just like me making a thread to show the difference between which and witch, your and you're, weather and whether.

Is this really general discussion, or just someone showing screenshots of people to highlight the mistakes they made and make them look stupid..
