Crumpets and tea?
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I don't want this decsending into another Bin Laden case story thread because we've seen enough of that yesterday.
However the current news does present an interesting question.
Over the last 48 hours I've noticed a significant difference in the reactions of friends in America compared to friends in England regarding the amazing news.
While my British friends pick apart the news and question its validity our American counterparts welcome in and celebrate the news.

Interesting enough one of my american friends commented on a Facebook status with "there is proof, go watch Obama's speech". Well if Obama says so it must be right. Right? Anyway what does everyone else think? Are the brits just more suspicious or?

As has been said already in this thread, you can't really generalize a whole populations views. Though, I feel that the British are more sceptical in this instance. Personally I think that Americans have a sense of relief thinking that he's dead, obviously because it was on their soil and mainly on their citizens. Although us Brits are happy that Bin laden is dead it's does "hit home" as much as it would if we were Americans.

In general us Brits are not as sceptical as we seem. Our humour is very dry, sarcastic and edgy as ****. We present what we say in a very "matter of fact" and ironic way. Look at kind of British TV or film and you'll see this in the way that it's written. Maybe this comes across as being sceptical, who knows. Personally, I think it's Brits just being Brits. Now for some tea and crumpets, jolly good.

By Gulf War i meant Iraq & Afghanistan, and just because America is the only country still there it doesn't mean they done the most work in stopping Osama & Co. But as always they make out it was all ME ME ME Smile

Good thing Americans were around for World War 2. They totally won that by themselves. Us cowardly brits did nothing for the first few years of the war and so it's great we were able to be carried through it by the US.

They sure did, we didn't fight it for years before that and technically win it at the Battle Of Britain.

Because we're the only ones in Iraq we can take credit, because U.S. forces killed Osama we can take credit for that, and because we have 90,000 troops in Afghanistan opposed to Englands 9,000 id say we can take the glory from that too.

The use of Logic and Reasoning is not limited to either British or Americans.
But its use seems pretty limited by members of NGU that believe that Osama Bin Laden is still alive or the actions of the last couple of days was in some way a hoax.
Is it any wonder that the Islamics have an endless supply of ignorant suicide bombers, when the "educated" West is populated with so many Conspiracy believing fools  Try applying some logic and reasoning to the situation !!!

If the U.S. hadn't joined the war the Russians would have fought Germany into a stalemate but not before England lost all its territories in Africa, the Suez mainly. And since when have Americans taken full credit for WWII...

So America killed Osama? Wheres anyones proof. I'd also like to see the truth behind the mission and see who trained your Navy Seals /facepalm . But let Obama and America have his moment of glory and leave everyone else out who fight everyday.

You may have more troops in Afghanistan but you don't do anything compared to our Marines & Paras.

But i'll let you take the glory just like everyother British person out there will as you've always claimed you done it all but honestly you've done nothing. Think of it as a gift from Americas only true allie in the world. My opinion is biased but Americans opinions takes it to a whole new level.

Americans do take full credit all the time, they use it as an insult to us by saying we'd speak German if it wasn't for you, when the truth is the Americans were ****ing assholes about joining and helping, even though we jumped into action in the far east to assist America and help keep our colonies there aswell.
