A bomb threat for London has been issued by Irish dissidents in the first coded warning outside Northern Ireland in 10 years, officials say.

Streets around the Mall were closed for five hours on Monday morning amid a major security alert.

BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera said: "My understanding is that this may have come because of a coded warning, which is why there is more concern about it than normal. Threats come in and out all the time.

"But if it was a specific code word warning, that would suggest something more serious and that would be why we have had this alert."

Stop while you're ahead. I'm not the only one who thinks this eas infact I am only among the many. The English invaded us and killed our men, took over our countru, not yours. We're the only ones you should be feeling sorry for.

It's amazing how often people become the very thing they sought to destroy. This whole "revenge" excuse is quite disgusting. Yes, innocent Irish died, but is it really necessary to take it out on people who had nothing to do with it?

It's like being Jewish and hating the Germans for what happened ages ago, and for what the current generation had no control over.

If we keep doing things like this, we'll all be dead. And then what?

English people killed them? It was the decision of the prime minister and the government, nothing to do with the people within England. If you think that the people in England are to blame, then you're very wrong.

It's not fair for anyone to be killed; never mind getting revenge.

This threat was issued by the RIRA ahead of the first British monarch to step foot in Ireland since out independence visit tomorrow. But honestly, one small bomb in London ain't much, I have a good feeling the RIRA are planning something for the Queen.

UP THE RA!

Actually some British soldiers have just killed Irish people in revenge, and I'm referring to Bloody Sunday. I think it will be gas when the Queen goes to Croke Park and they tell her the stand was named after a Tip Gaelic Football player which was killed by the British... wonder what she'd say to that :P

It was english soldiers that killed them, the PM decided to, therefore it is the English.

The soldier's are doing their job. It's like my saying you lost this sport because of the people, is that the case? No. Whatever's happened it's happened for a reason, and that reason was decided by the Prime Minister.
