(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I am not sure if anyone here remembers when I had been flagged for downloading illegal movies by the MPAA and Time Warner Cable.

Just today, my internet was shutdown again with the claim this was the 3rd notice (btw they never gave a second one), and the last one came with an email (btw there was never an email). They made the claim that I had still not deleted the movies from my computer. This was true, but I had deleted the files from Vuze so they were no longer seeding. To comply I deleted both movies and out of a request uninstalled Vuze.

I thought this was false of how they knew this as they claimed they looked inside my computer, which I consider an invasion of privacy and illegal. As I pondered this I went to my doctor and he told me that he received an email from the MPAA asking for the release of his information (which by law he can't release without my approval). Now I was shocked. Not only did they look onto my computer, not just monitor the internet, but they actually went on, somehow found out my insurance and name, then proceeded to find out if I went to a Doctor, then to email him on the issue.

I was telling my parents that there is no way what they did was legal. If anyone here can help me by showing me some acts and bills preventing these kinds of actions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW The MPAA was considering persecuting me and charging my father with $250,000. I thought this was BS. There was no second warning. I wasn't seeding. And they don't have the right to look onto my computer.

Hmmmm. After studying a bunch of cases and laws, it looks like you might be screwed. That is, unless you either live in California or somewhere outside the US. I say this because almost all laws/amendments relating to privacy say they can not disclose your information with others, but as far as I can tell it's fine for them to keep and collect your data. You can try and say they violated your fourth amendment rights (unlawful search and seizure), but the fact that you were caught before by them might allow them to make a case that it was justified to breach your computer. This looks to be especially a problem as they are hosting your internet, so they can make a very strong case about them doing it due to not wanting illegal activities on their servers. As far as them just ASKING for your medical records, that is not illegal. It would only be illegal if your Doctor actually gave your information to them without your consent, or if they did so without being presented a warrant. The doctor portion you really can do nothing about, but you can TRY to make a case about them invading your computer. I say try because most companies will be able to afford great lawyers and make even legitimate cases go in the shitter. I hope you get those bastards, good luck.

Thanx dude, thats a relief.

I feel they won't go any farther into this. Hopefully, AT&T aren't as much of assholes as TWC.

BTW How the **** did they find out my name, insurance, and doctors email address?

Saint Jimmy
And don't wear it out.
Just saying, I believe that they can go ahead and track whatever you're downloading onto the computer. Most likely, that's part of their ToS which you/your parents/whoever the hell set up your internet agreed to follow.

Now, if they're tracking what's actually on your computer, that's a different story. Basically, if you stop seeding them, and they still know that it's on your computer, then that's an invasion of privacy, for sure.

They have the right (sucks, I know) to see what you put on your computer through their internet services, but not the right to see what you keep on there or get on there from other means.

Damn reading this makes me appreciate my ISP more even if I do have less than a MB download speed...
They let me download as much torrents and shit as I want, and we don't have a download limit so I can download as much as I want and the bill will never change Smile
