Especially seeing as how a lot of prisons are full, unable to take new inmates. I reckon for severe or repeated crimes you should receive the death penalty, perhaps then the crime in the UK would reduce; as would the overall number of the population but no one can complain for good over evil.

On a side note, I fucking loath the fact that eastern europeans have pretty much flocked the prison system of the UK. Thousands of them are locked up each day. Also, fuck human rights.

Although I've no problem with deporting criminals within certain boundaries, I'm 100% against the death penalty. The risk of killing someone innocent is too high.

One of the reasons prisons are overpopulated is because the world is becoming less and less tolerant of people making mistakes. While I do see the logic in separating felons from society for a set period of time, many people would be happy if everybody but those closest to them were locked up. Sycophant men and women leaning on the blue arm of "the law" and moaning that their next-door neighbor plays his music too loud and uses drugs to pass the time--they say, "lock him up" and the police will try, succeeding in many cases.

Rather than killing anybody, why not free those incarcerated for lesser crimes?

It's a complicated matter. For starters I don't agree with courts handing out the death penalty like candy just because prisons are packed. That's clouding judgement for the worse and making matters complicated.

Anyways, like Clutch Hunter said, when dealing with the death penalty, you could be taking an innocent man's life (like Lincoln Burrows Awesome face). On the other hand, I'm not against the moral aspect.

On another note, I find the ruling of it to be weird. Why does 1st degree only warrant the death penalty? Either way, the person is dead right? Who cares about their methods, their victim is ultimately dead and I think that's where punishments should be drawn from.

Now I'm not saying let's give everyone the death penalty that has committed murder, because serving years of their life behind bars could psychologically be worse than death for some. Rather than giving the death penalty based on methods, I think it should be done through quantities. Why do some serial killers get away with tons of murders only to get a 60 year sentence when a guy goes out there and kills one person but since they killed them with a 500 needles they get the electric chair.

I really don't know how to express my complete feelings on this matter through a message, but I just tried.

I feel it should be done to the most dangerous criminals but, as Clutch Hunterr said, there is a risk of innocent people being killed so the evidence would have to stack up a lot to prevent this.

I don't believe in capital punishment. I mean even if someone has done a horrible crime they can change, and they can be an alright person.

Capital punishment isn't right no matter what a person has done. It's pretty much allowing the government to 'murder' criminals and soon it'd get to the point where they'd be killed for smaller crimes. I also think if they have killed somone they don't deserve to die, but rather suffer for the rest of their life (or 20 odd years) in a prison cell.

A solution to the overcrowding of prisons would be sending inmates an an uninhabited continent or island like they first did with Australia. But lets face it, not many islands or continents are uninhabited these days.

The reason being, are these people who are taking part and condoning these people to death no better than the criminal himself/herself! And what if the case is later re-opened and it is found that the person is not guilty... they can't just say too bad he's dead they've just murdered an Innocent!
