(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So the big question that still looms about the Wii U is how much powerful it really is over the present generation of consoles. Sure, we want to know if it can run Unreal Engine 4, or even the Luminos engine from Square Enix… but since those engines are not due for release for at least another year or two, the only question we can truly answer right now is what can the Wii U do that the other consoles can’t. Sure we know about the tricks the controller has up it’s sleeve, but we really want to see raw power comparisons. We may not have exact details on the hardware yet , but here is what we do have: Two screenshots comparing graphical fidelity from Batman: Arkham City.

Not seeing the differences? Maybe you need some glasses than. The draw distance is greatly improved - it’s well beyond what the PS3 is capable of. In addition, things are much more detailed, and there is a lot more going on in the Wii U shot than in the PS3 shot. Also, the blur movement effect blends things much better in the Wii U version than the PS3, where things that truly shouldn’t be as detailed no longer are, making it fit better in the shot and less distracting.

This is the first real sign we have seen that the Wii U is “significantly” more powerful than the competing consoles of this generation. How much more fidelity it has than we are shown here isn’t known, but the true power of the console is rarely tapped into out the gate. That means that the Wii U can do so much more than this. Remember, this is also just 720p resolution, and the Wii U is capable of 1080p. So while this is certainly impressive in terms of comparing the versions of games and seeing the actual improvements , it’s even more impressive knowing the Wii U can do so much more.

Consoles are for people with friends.

And for those of you who are amazed by how this is up to date with 360/PS3, you obviously have forgotten the GameCube. Man, I wish they made a GameCube 2 with online capabilities.

I'll be impressed when I see multiple images like this. As far as I see, The WiiU has less lighting and shading capabilities, but this is just
one set of images. I'll have to see more.

I am impressed with the Wii U's capabilities and its potential. However this comparison isn't very fair. To pit new technology against something that's give or take 7 years old is pretty stupid in my opinion. If the Wii U can outperform the PS4 or 720; that's something to talk about but I highly doubt that.

I understand that. Yhe PS3 will be updated and so on but Nintendo Usualyy go for more innovative technology rather than graphics. Personally, I will be buying a Wii U

not much of a difference, but the draw distance is good

I can't see any differences at draw distance.

The only differences I see is that Wii U uses high quality textures and a heavier lighting.
