(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys my friends and I were having a discussion about public school education vs. private school education. We were mainly talking about education at elementary and high school levels but I guess we can open it up to all kinds of education. So do you guys think public school benefits someones education more and gives them better chances at succeeding in college or later on in life, or do you guys think private school benefits someones education more and gives them better chances at succeeding in college or later in life?

I personally think that it depends on who the student is but I do believe that private schools help create more options for the students and most likely have better sporting teams than public schools (I know this is a whole separate debate but I thought I would throw it out there).

I think it varies on what you are looking for.

Private schools can offer opportunities not available at public schools. Examples can be preparatory academies, or a more major focused school. Regardless though, they MUST teach general educations that all students should learn from (Mathematics, Science, English, etc...).

Public schools can vary often, which is frankly saddening. My school I go to is fantastic. Brand new equipment, 9/10 of the teachers are great, half descent staff. Hell, GreatSchools.org grants us a 10/10 (mainly based on test scores). The issue is that the way public schools are funded put those living in poorer areas more at risk. That is one of the flaws in the US education system. Those in wealthier locations have better schooling, hence they are more likely to make more money.

Now in terms of private schools for religious reasons I am more on the fence. I will straight forward admit I'm a bit biased as I attended a Christian Middle School, and I have to say the education was very different from what my current friends experienced. We had less Extracurriculars (once again a cost issue, based on where you live) meaning I didn't have the chance to learn an instrument. The science class was also different. Because science was molded more around the religion some details were either left out or molded. I can understand if someone decides to not accept/believe it, but teaching it is another matter at hand. Although, I will say as long as the general education classes are fine I'm okay with these schools.

One thing I find fascinating is the perception that private schools are instantly better, when the best teachers I've ever had were at a public school. But once again, the problem lies in location and money

Honestly ive been in private school my whole life, but it mainly depends on the students work ethic and determination to learn and work for what they want. For example kids in private school tend to have better SAT scores on average, but that is due to the small class sizes and excessive attention given to us. In public schools with classes about 30-40 kids a student wont be pushed to be their best or get helped so they can reach that potential. However, if the student wants to do good, he/she will seek the help needed to pass the class; furthermore, can be moved up to the advanced smarter classes in the public school system. Not saying at all the private schools are better since public can still have the potential to be smart; but in private schools smaller classes, more attention, good learning environment encourages learning and striving for excellence.

From personal experience it doesnt matter about private or public, all private schools is motivate you more with punishments etc. But a compotent teenager studying before university can motivate himself to attain the grades he/she needs thus not needing private education.

In terms of education I think private schools are the way to go. In terms of life learning and socialization, I would go with a public school. They both have their pros and cons.

In Australia the average price for a full education on a private is 500k and public is 10k or something like that. And something's private schools have less disciplined kids than public, but saying that they are way more shady people in public in my area. And there are a lot of drug addicted people in public schools. I also heard that in one public high school the enrollment for 2014 was 17 students. The school will probably be shut down. So i like private as there are less rat bags there. But What happened to education should be free?

I grew up in a life of going to public school and I like what I get from it. It's like as if it's private school but in public school, I can socialize more with friends. The teams on public schools vs. private schools, I would say public schools would always win since more people are interested in public school than private school. As for the food, I'd say private school won on that but you got to pay for lunch so I would go with public school :p.
