Daddy's home.
Yeah. If there is something going down that could kill millions of people, or even a few thousand then torture should be used. It was in the paper this morning that someone in MI6 is being investigated by the police for torturing a suspected terrorist. Terrorists torture our people such as journalists and soldiers and they don't give a ****, so why can't we do the same to them? It's only fair right? That's why people like Al Qaeda get away with so many things. They know they don't have to say anything and nothing will be done to them, they get away or put in prison with more terrorists where they have years to think and plan another attack possibly.
Anyway, in short, the secret service or army should be able to torture like terrorists do to our people.

It depends on the situation. Obviously in a situation where many lives are at risk and it's extremely likely that the person has viable information, then yes. But if you're just trying to get a confession out of him... well, let's just say that they could get you to confess to robbing a bank in a few hours (maybe not even). Being tortured will create false confessions and nothing more.

But we don't want to sink to that level aswell. If we are better than them we will not do things to them just because they do things to us.

Climbing up the ladder
Not torture.

Death penalty for murder, yes

Prison to be a bad place to go, yes

Not waterboarding or anything like that though. It does depend on the situation, terrorists need to be punished if they have commited an extreamly serious offence.

Do a barrel roll!
Hell yea, torture. It works. Straight up it just works.

People always act so surprised and OH MY! THE CIA USED TORTURING METHODS AGAINST THE TERRORIST IN GUANTANOMO BAY?!? OMGGG NO WAY! HOW HORRIBLE!!!

Get real. How the hell else are you going to get information out of a dedicated suicidal terrorist who wont say shit. If people kept their mouths shut and stopped trying to stir up the pot of shit, it wouldnt be a problem.

I say let the CIA whoever torture who they need too, to get information out. **** human rights, terrorist dont have those human rights.

Haxor!
I agree with mental torture, but not physical. Mental torture gets the info you want, without really harming the person.

Ive got to agree with elfmotat on this one. If there a many lives at risk then I would say yes. Situations to include, mass terrorist attacks (9/11), car bombings aimed at busy town squares (as seen in Iraq, Afghanistan) etc. As far as petty crimes are concerned I am against torture. You need to keep something in mind, how do you get information out of a person who is used to ultra-violence? Some of these people are comfortable with beheading people right on the spot without disregard. The ones that do these things are not new to that realm of violence. I have seen numerous videos surfacing on the internet of kids as young a 7-8 year olds beheading so-called "spy's" right on the public sidewalks and not even flinch. How do you get information out of people like that?
