(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); With all of the talk of Billions vs Trillions its hard to comprehend how much money the US is in Debt.

Here is a graphic of the current 16 Trillion Dollar debt limit( a number that has to be raised every year), Remember that we are talking stacks of 100 dollar bills, each pallet represents 100 million dollars. Obama has added nearly 6 trillion to that deficit in the last 4 years, But pictures can speak louder than words.

So Obama only accounted for the left wall in this picture :p
As far as who owns our debt, China accounts for the first stack on the left, Japan owns the second stack,(each owns just over 1 trillion in US treasury notes) The third stack is owned by all the rest of the countries in the world( both England and Russia own about 150 billion each)

Who owns the other 13 trillion???
US citizens have the responsiblity to pay off that amount of debt through taxation!!
And you thought your credit card balance was getting out of control

For some other perspective, all of the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy is estimated to cost about 20 to 30 billion dollars.
That is roughly the amount of the top 2 rows on the short stack at the bottom of the picture

Our Debt is 53 times the number of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, and if we had 8 more stacks of a trillion ( or leave Obama in office another 4 years)we can equal the number of miles it would take to get to the next closest star a mere 4.24 light years or roughly 25 trillion miles away Winky Winky

I don't care if you're joking or not. Maybe you should pay attention in history more because the debt started growing dramatically YEARS BEFORE Bush was president. I hate juvenile kids that think Bush got us this far into debt.....

Anyone that blames Obama simply doesn't understand basic economics.

Make counter-Bush jokes all you want, but his policies did contribute a lot to this still growing debt, up to this day (note that I'm not entirely blaming the debt on Bush because it's stupid to think it's all his fault). Bush got us in war with Afghanistan and Iraq (which I'll note there were never any WMDs). The yearly costs of those 2 wars have doubled over the last ten years from 81.2 billion in 2003 to 170 billion during 2011. Keep in mind, we're using BORROWED money (that has interest) to fund those. Obama got us out of Iraq, and will get us out of Afghanistan.

Other than wars, Bush's Medicare Drug Act of 2003 helped dig us a deeper hole too. Yet another program that we borrowed money for and cost the US over 1 trillion dollars. Basically, this made it so that the United States government is not allowed to negotiate pricing with the drug manufacturers. That means pharmacies can bargain for lower prices, but the government can't. The funniest part is the drug research and development is already funded by us through grants, tax breaks, and other subsidies. So why are we paying so much for medications WE created?

The costs of the policies made by the Bush administration will continue to go up every year, adding to the deficit regardless of who is in office. Oh and don't get me started on Bush's tax cuts. But hey, let's vote Mitt Romney and go back to those glorious policies!

P.S. Anyone that says, "all Obama does is blame Bush" is a dunce. Idiot Democrats are people that ENTIRELY blame the debt on Bush and can't back it up. Idiot Republicans are people that blame Obama for not getting us out of this debt fast enough, or just call him Muslim, Kenyan, Socialist, Marxist or whatever other stupid ass titles you have. Idiot neutralists are people that say, "I don't care about politics and both candidates suck. We're screwed either way." You don't really think that, you're just too lazy, ignorant, or non-caring to follow politics.
