(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello everyone,

now this is really a mix between a potential discussion and a question.

I am very keen when it comes to working out, I go to the gym 4 times a week and try to go for as long as possible. I recently started taking supplements and a friend of mine who is a personal trainer told me to start off with a supplement called CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid). It is a non-essential fatty burning acid which allows you to burn more calories for longer, aiding in fat loss and muscle growth. In short it is supposed to give you a lot of energy.

Now I'm almost at the end of my months cycle and I'm not noticing anything on a daily basis at the moment. When I first started taking them I felt like I was full of energy, but now I just feel normal. It has me questioning the supplement and considering if its a placebo effective drug.

here is a detailed summary of what the placebo effect is:

That's the gist of the placebo effect. It's what happens when a person takes a medication that he or she perceives will help, although it actually has no proven therapeutic effect for his or her particular condition. The medicine or treatment itself is known as a placebo, from Latin for "I will please." There are a few different types of placebos. They may be pharmacologically inert, meaning that they contain no active ingredients. These types of placebos often contain basic ingredients like sugar (hence the term "sugar pill"). Medications that do have active ingredients but aren't proven to work on the patient's particular condition can also be placebos. There have even been placebos in the form of surgery, injections and other types of medical therapies. Some people believe that complementary and alternative medicine count as placebos, too.

a short sentence to sum it up: it's a fake drug that makes you think its "curing" you, but really it does nothing, and helps you get over what ever you're suffering, mentally.

Now the heart of the discussion is, do you think I'm under the placebo effect? Or is the drug actually working? Because there have been many positive results since I started, and I know many people that say this helped them very much when they wanted to achieve the same thing.

I have removed all of your irrelevant rambling as I just skimmed through it. Please, stay on topic. You seem to go astray after your initial statement.

My point still remains valid and is relevant. You believe government and scientific regulation is not needed, therefor you win the Darwin Award.

Why would you need government's say in the matter? It's already been researched. The EFSA has researched it and found that the there was potential for kidney damage for prolonged use. Though short-term use is a non-issue.

Just fucking LOL.

When did you say the in the first place? There must be something preceding before there is something proceeding.

You were saying they hadn't for the longest time! Now this? You make me laugh.
