The question I want to open for debate, is Should marijuana be legalized and is it really as bad as the media portrays it to be?

I didn't open this thread for idiotic responses, I want cold hard facts as well as any experiences that may help the topic. My personal feelings are that marijuana got black balled and it is less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. I also feel like legalizing marijuana (in the United States) would benefit the entire nation and could potentially get us out of debt, if taxed by the IRS properly.

Please let the debate begin, and remember, no flaming or insulting anyone, this is a debate not a flame war.

I personally don't smoke weed, but I think it should be legalized. The government are going at it all wrong; they are spending tons of money on preventing the use & production of weed, which could go to more important things. What the government doesn't realize is that they can make more money by making it legal and taxing the hell out of it.

This wont happen could you imagine all the dumb ass's that would be out in the world and that would drive while high. my friend got kill by a drunk driver and I don't want anymore people driving while under the influence of anything, people sucks at driving already

Weed definitely has more positive traits than negative, and if it were legal the nation could save billions of dollars that are being spent on the illegalization, so-called "war on drugs", imprisoning people for using/possessing it, selling it, and it would probably get us out of the bad economic state we're in. I smoke weed all the time, and I've never actually experienced a bad side of it, the only times I've came close is when people just assume it's bad and try to get others caught for it. I actually did a speech in one of my English classes and my subject was why marijuana should be legalized. Lots of people smoke bud, just look around, majority of people I know smoke, and most who don't, support it's legalization.

Yeah go ahead and legalize it, tax it like cigarattes.

Weed is awesome.The herb doesnt hurt the mind it only relieves the mind.
