(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I noticed a lot of people with anime related avatars and signatures on this website so I thought it'd be nice to have discussion thread. It's always nice to talk about shows with people and there does seem to be a number of anime watchers on here.

I'd suggest that you make an account on You must login or register to view this content. if you watch anime. This website is great and you can log all the shows/movies you've watched and give them ratings.

I'm currently watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn. It's a fairly slow starter but picks up pace around episode 20, if you can tolerate the start then you're in for a treat. I wouldn't say it's up there with the best I've watched but it's definitely worth a gander if you want to watch a decent shounen.

If you're reading this thread and haven't watched anime before and need some recommendations just post in here and I'll sort you out with a show with links for it.

I started watching anime as a kid with Shōnens as Naruto, One Piece and Dragonball, but I only kept reading the Naruto manga and stopped watching any kind of anime back then. In the past months I've just started to watch anime again and I totally do not regret it !!! Nearly every anime show I finished lately is better than any "real" Series/Movie I've ever watched Happy I've finished these ones in the past few months:

- Clannad/Clannad: After Story
- Angle Beats
- FMAB
- Durarara
- Steins;Gate
- Anohana
- Ao no Exorcist
- Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari
- Toradora
- Magi
- Zetsuen no Tempest
- Kokoro Connect
- Elfen Lied
- Mirai Nikki

and im currently watching :

- Shingeki no Kyojin
- Fate/Zero

I would be glad if someone could suggest me some more epic shows Happy

Mushishi
Serial Experiments Lain
Texhnolyze
Kaiba
Kemonozume
Genius Party / Genius Party Beyond (See higher in the thread for a taste)
Paranoia Agent
Ghost in the Shell movies then Stand Alone Complex
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Haibane Renmei
Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion
Cardcaptor Sakura
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Jin Roh
Memories
Princess Tutu
Iblard Jikan
Kino no Tabi
Perfect Blue

Extra:
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (A great show but if you've not seen much animu you'll probably find it boring as it plays off a lot of stereotypes and archetypes that you find in many series, still though it's typical SHAFT wankery and worth a watch, but if you don't like it stop at the first series and then come back later after you seen another 150-200 shows, then you'll love it)

Anyway, by no means is this trying to be a comprehensive list though, I'm just trying to push you into the deep end so you can see a bit more of what's out there. Out of the shows I've listed above 5 are in my top 10 of all that I've currently seen. Also I should mention don't judge a book by it's cover it may seem obvious to say this but many shows you'll watch might not look like they're targeted at you demographic for instance Cardcaptor Sakura but that show single handedly defines the Mahou Shoujo genre and there have been many shows since that use it as the benchmark.

If you watch everything I've listed you'll be considerably better versed than most anime fans and you'll probably also turn into an elitist/pretentious fuck that looks down on people for watching shitty anime.

Well, first I gotta thank you for all your recommendations Smile I was pretty surprised that I've only heard of Neon Genesis Evangelion out of all the animes you've listed. I'll give them all a try and just fell in love with Mushishi(I'm at ep. 4 right now) ^^ And about getting a pretentious fuck, I don't know what you define as a shitty anime but I think you mean shows without a meaning behind the story or just a shitty story itself, but I enjoy watching pure action animes with a simple story too, as an example Shingeki no Kyojin has a really simple story but I still fucking love that show so much that I even get goosbumbs only when I think about it. I don't think that would change in any way even after watching over 100 diffrent animes.

What I'd define as shitty anime would be anything that panders to the audience with excessive fanservice when it's not needed or if that's the main reason to watch the show, Also harem shows tend to be shit. Highschool of the Dead, To Love Ru, Ladies vs Butlers, Kiss x Sis, Ore no Imouto, Infinite Stratos come to mind, not to say you can't enjoy watching them but there all essentially shit and I find it hilarious when people try to suggest that shows like that are really good or are upstanding examples of anime.

I thought the exact same as you but they are both excellent shows regardless.

In case anyone wanted more recommendations, one note though in the "series that excels in part 2" chart series that excel in "Quality" means shows that a badly animated not shows that are good. Quality/QUALITY(depending on the context) is slang term for horrendously bad animation. Just like plot/PLOT (again depending on the context) is slang for heavy fanservice/tits.

Spoliered it because the image is so fucking large.
