Post: Fucked up bad

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have resigned as a firefighter - 9-14-13

Yeah :( As some of you know I am a firefighter. Anyways, I was working a structure fire yesterday (9-12-13), and it was a fully involved fire. The fire was up in the attic. Started in basement and moved all through the house. We pull up and pack up (SCBA/Scott Pack) and go in to search and to interior fighting. I go in with a a guy (lets name him John), and we get up the stairs. The fire is everywhere, can't see anything and it's very hot. I start breathing more, sucking my bottle down (no, I'm not gay ***s) and I decided 20 mins in searching and fighting is enough for that time (I was deciding I needed to go out, because we cut everything in half to keep us from getting hurt ect) so I yell at John and say lets pull out and let another team go in for us. He tells me to go on out, (as an instinct of a firefighter is to never leave a man behind), but I had to go the fire was in the wall to the right side and back of me. It was burning my gear. Anyways, I know I shouldn't of left him in there alone. I sent in another firefighter to take my place and everything were alright.

I feel soo bad about this, because if he would of got hurt.
I know to never leave another firefighter in there alone like I did.

Anyways, what should I do about this?
Please refrain from trolling and pointless/useless posts.

I used to be a firefighter. The only thing I can say that when this happened to me was if anything happened i would help the family if possible. If nothing happened to him, just be happy that nothing happened. You shouldn't worry about what ifs in life, it only leads to bad ideas and thoughts that are to come with a 'what if' .

If he isn't hurt, then just be happy he isn't hurt and don't fret about you.

Some people just don't get it.

Anyways, OT: Like everyone else is saying, don't sweat it so much. The important thing to remember is that he was okay and nothing bad came out of it. The more you dwell on the situation the worse it's going to make you feel about yourself.

Not really much you can do. I understand it's not great to leave a man behind in a burning fire... but your gear was getting damaged and he pretty much told you to go ahead. It's good that you brang in A guy to help him out, too. So im guessing he wasn't in there by himself that long :p It's great he didn't get hurt tho! Smile

Why the hell should I gtfo? Because I supported the OP and think it's ridiculous that someone always has to troll? I understand it's the internet but NGU really needs to grow up sometimes. It's pathetic, really.

I don't think you fucked up, you just went against protocol. Everything went fine and you had to retrieve your gear. Next time just remind him to stick with you, no harm in what you did.
