(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have resigned as a firefighter - 9-14-13

Yeah :( As some of you know I am a firefighter. Anyways, I was working a structure fire yesterday (9-12-13), and it was a fully involved fire. The fire was up in the attic. Started in basement and moved all through the house. We pull up and pack up (SCBA/Scott Pack) and go in to search and to interior fighting. I go in with a a guy (lets name him John), and we get up the stairs. The fire is everywhere, can't see anything and it's very hot. I start breathing more, sucking my bottle down (no, I'm not gay ***s) and I decided 20 mins in searching and fighting is enough for that time (I was deciding I needed to go out, because we cut everything in half to keep us from getting hurt ect) so I yell at John and say lets pull out and let another team go in for us. He tells me to go on out, (as an instinct of a firefighter is to never leave a man behind), but I had to go the fire was in the wall to the right side and back of me. It was burning my gear. Anyways, I know I shouldn't of left him in there alone. I sent in another firefighter to take my place and everything were alright.

I feel soo bad about this, because if he would of got hurt.
I know to never leave another firefighter in there alone like I did.

Anyways, what should I do about this?

That was TheUnexpected!!!!

In all seriousness you did the right thing pulling out, because you're a firefigher does not make you super human. Your safety along with putting out the fire is your job. It johns fault in this case he should left the building with you.
Should not have resigned, that said it must have shocked you to cause that.

It a job I could never do have nothing but respect for you guys.

Opie you are only looking for support on your decision. You are not accepting a rational response to this situation. In my opinion, with that mindset you should not be a fire fighter. The field is saturated (at least locally for me) and, it will be good to know that the person who takes your spot knows what he is doing and, knows how to handle a situation a kindergardener could solve. Also, how can you expect not to be trolled with your idiotic reasoning? You're lucky that i'm not trolling/ pulling out misc lingo.

You resigned because you had to vacate because of your safety?? Interesting story to say the least...
