Hey guys, since I just figured out today that there's a gay kid in my class I'd like to ask you guys how do you feel about lesbian/gay/bi/transgender people? Here's my opinion.
I'm not 100% against it as they're all normal people, but there's a gay kid in my class and he was one of my best friends and when he told me he was gay a couple of days ago, it started being super awkward. But let's here all of your thoughts, it might change my opinion on it and it may not.
I could see how that puts you in an awkward situation. Personally, I would probably drift away in the friendship. There is no reason to be mean to the kid, he is just being himself. But with that said, when a friend tells you a piece of information you weren't aware of before, the dynamic changes and you have to reevaluate it. For example, if you were really good friends with a guy for an extended amount of time, then he tells you he likes to have sex with his mom, you are probably going to distance yourself from him. Same thing if a friend of yours comes out. Bottom line, if it makes you feel uncomfortable, there is no rule saying you can't ignore people. Good luck.
