I personally think that it works well, but other punishments such as grounding the kid for a week would be even better. Let me know what you guys think.

Honestly, I don't think too much about anything really because after a certain age, you just grow old of spankings and whatnots. I would embarrass them in front of their friends or simply take away their materialistic items such as Games, Phones, TV Time, basically anything they enjoy doing and make them do School Work.

Hey, man. It just all depends. I mean, I've gotten ass wopens and had a lot done to me. Always was grounded.
I mean, I've turned out respectable and know my manners, etc.
but I've also been to JDC, done tons of drugs, and did a lot of bad things. So It all just depends on how your kid/kids are.

Well when I was younger I honestly didn't fear spankings. They barely hurt me. When my parents realized this they started grounding me from things, but most of the time I would find a way around it. They finally gave up and basically let me know that this is my life and what I do now is going to affect me later. I've never forgotten that and after they told me that I acted more mature and took life seriously.

I wouldn't slap my son or daughter, I would just take his / her things away and ground him / her. This isn't the 1990s

When I was younger and I did something I wasn't supposed to, I got spanked or put into the corner. As I got a bit older I wouldn't necessarily get grounded but my parents would take things away from me. When I was in high school I seldom did anything bad, but if I did I'd just lose internet access and my computer etc. Needless to say I turned out fine.
