Post: Time Travel

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I want to know what other NGU members thinks about time travel. Whether you think it's possible or not, real or fake I do not care, I just want your opinions on it :p

I'll start off.

I don't think time travel exists. Well, okay I sort of do, but I think of what everybody thinks time travel is like in Back to the Future or the Butterfly Effect where if you go back in time and fuck something up and then go back to present time and everything is fucked up there; I do not believe this is time travel, I believe this is moving from one alternate universe to another. Because what about the rest of the Earth that didn't "time travel" with you, wouldn't they notice that something has been fucked up?

I made this ghetto diagram in paint to help illustrate

You must login or register to view this content.

My theory is that if time travel is possible, somehow the universe would have a system that is kind of like a compiler where if you have a syntax error (You fuck something up in the past) and you try to compile (go back to the present) it will catch the error and tell you your error (Push you into an alternate universe where your choice has been made)

Anyways, I'm really fucking tired right now, please tell your opinions :p troll or not idc

Well I don't think its time travel as its portrayed in movies like back to the future. Einstein said that time is a river going fast in some places and slowing down in others so it's possible to be younger then someone who was born the exact same time as eachother if you go to space and your biological clock slows down while the other person is still on earth you will be a fraction younger than that person. There is also wormholes (Einstein-Rosen bridges) which is still theoretical physics but may hold the key to time travel. And there is also a theory for the "butterfly effect" called the Quantum many worlds theory which states that at every quantum possibility an alternate universe is created with all possible outcomes.

But, you can see the past just by looking in the sky, the further you look, the more you go back in time.
Best example I can give you:

When you look at the sun now, you're seeing it as it looked 8 minutes ago because the light travels at 300,000 km/s and it takes 8 mins and a few seconds for the sun's light to reach the earth. So for example, if Kim Jong-un decided to detonate the sun, we'll all see it explode 8 minutes later...

I was just thinking the exact same theory, if you could let's say teleport to another planet billions of miles away, then look back at our planet surely you would be looking at the past? Therefore the further you "teleport" away, the further into the past you would see?

Just say to yourself, I promise I will come back to this point in exactly 5 seconds if I ever invent time travel/discover time travel.

Them feels

not from tbbt at all.

No, unless if you can travel faster than the speed of light and look on the earth from far away. Otherwise it's pretty impossible, because you'll take more time going into your destination, get me?!

Could you please not call science stupid, or at least reword it, thanks. No i don't think time travel is possible either.

I'm stating a fact, science is all about theories Winky Winky
So yes it's stupid.

Science is about the Study of Demonstrated Truths Within the Domains of the Natural World.

Yes but you would still age the 60-70 years that would've passed on earth.
