LOL you're funny. Obviously you didn't understand what I posted before, so let me say it again.
-Using a work by a company/for a promotion is not considered ripping, and it's legally allowed under Fair Use
-Using a work by an artist online (like someone here or on DA) IS considered ripping, and is still legally allowed under Fair Use
The difference between the two is the type of art being used. In the case of a publicly available piece of art (like the Homefront banner), the art was created for the purpose of profit and is seen by the online arts community as fair game. On the other hand, an artist's own personal work is considered off-limits, because it's not being made to be a promotional work, or to make profit (even if it's put up for sale, it's still considered ars gratia artis [art for the sake of art]). Therefore, using another artist's personal work has been made formally against the rules on almost every art forum, including this one here at NGU.
