Recently, Activision posted a casting call for the upcoming 2010 Call of Duty title, confirming the game's Vietnam setting. It it's ad, it asked for an actor "to record voice-over and motion capture work for a character named Frank Barnes, who is part of an elite Vietnam unit, the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group." Seems like pretty good proof that the game will be set in the Vietnam war, some time in the late 60's/early 70's - I guess we'll still have our M16's!
Expect an official announcement from Activision some time soon, where they will be sure to unveil many details of the game. Hopefully Treyarch will be able to engineer this game to turn their failed reputation around.

i HOPE treyarch brings it out even tho their graphics engine fails usually but the games arent really as hackable besides the programming glitches...i hope they improve so much on the cod series...WE NEED LOBBIES<<<< its evident that the cod series is unoriginal..so why not just add to what other games that people LOVE..a more valid clan structure instead of 4 letters/words..a lobby to choose to play in..like 80 million other games..and NO security blankets for campers...and a option to vote users OUT of the game....this resembles MGO in alot of ways..but mgo did it RIGHT..had own clan pages and training rooms..had a very structured voting system...and had the abilty to use a keyboard to type to ur team OR every one...and had lobbies to choose from...i hope at least one of these options gets implemented into the new cod series..other wise..i wont buy it
ugh figures. Ill prob buy this game unless you need subsription to play online. I just hope it goes back to the 3 5 7 killstreaks only but i would like to see the kill carryover in the rounds in search and destroy.
Anyway, the main problem here is that the Vietnam was wasn't really about the fighting, it was about what was going on at home (in the US). For example the whole My Lai massacre incident, and the problems with using chemical warfare. How are they going to represent that in a game. Also, what about the major discipline issues towards the end of the war, with troops becoming addicted to heroine and shooting their own officers? For me it was more a psychological war than a physical war, and I just think that this whole side of the story will be looked over by Treyarch making it a trivial shooter not representative of the actual war.
