After weeks of rumour and speculation, a PSN Premium service has finally been confirmed. Andrew House, president of SCEE, confirmed that Playstation users would be getting a "premium" service very soon, in an article on Playstation.com
“I can assure you that the current PSN as you know it will remain a free service,” he said. “It is something that our competitors don’t offer and something that shows our loyalty to the PlayStation Community.”
“However,” after being asked if there would be a paying service “Kaz Hirai stated a few months ago that we were looking at a premium service to sit alongside the current free service and that objective has not changed.” He also said the subject of Cross-Game Chat is certainly “something that the community wants” and said “you’ll learn more about it very soon.”

Million Miles Of Fun!
I pretty much along with the other members above me(and I am sure many more, would agree) that I want to see ALL of the features before I make a purchase espically if it ends up costing even near to some of the 'rumored' prices i.e. $9.99, if thats the case I will get an Xbox as premium is always better than free when its on the same console(just look at silver and gold)

You dont have to f*cking pay, you just pay if you want extra features!!
Seriously people, open your eys, its like the second point in the post...
I for one will be paying, PS3 tops 360 in all aspects except XBL is better than PSN. But if we get lots of new features, then I can't see XBL being better than the PSN for much longer

Agreed, I have both consoles and will not pay for gold on live since I got the ps3. I really hope the cross game chat is implemented into the free version, coz its all im really interested in out of all the things they are "offering" and £7 approx per month is too much just for a simple chat system. :O
(if i can buy it with the money that has my PSN)

I'm fine with it. When I get a job this will be one of the first things I buy. Any idea on when they're gonna apply this?
