IW admit MW2 and CoD Hacks But Blame PS3's Lack of Security

Infinity Ward has finally admit that Mw2 and COD4 are hacked, but they believe that it's more Sony's fault as their machine that has had its security breached isn't looking like it's going to be patched for now.

Robert Bowling the community manager, aka Fourzerotwo, released this statement on the matter.

"Sony has recently acknowledged a breach in security on the PS3 which resulted in games to become exposed to exploits and hacks. Modern Warfare 2 is no exception to this security exploit and we understand that some of you have experienced problems with stats and other issues associated with this.

Games rely on the security of the encryption on the platforms they're played on, therefore; updates to the game through patches will not resolve this problem, unless the security exploit itself is resolved on the platform. Regretfully, Call of Duty games are receiving the bulk of the hacker's attention, due to its high player counts and popularity. However, the number of legitimate players severely outweighs the bad apples.

If you are concerned about playing with players who are hacking, I encourage you to play exclusively with friends by utilizing the party or private match options in Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4 to avoid such players as much as possible until this issue is resolved by Sony.

At this time, we do not have the ability to restore or adjust individual stats.

Let me assure you, while we are very reliant on Sony updating their firmware and security to address the core problem of this issue. We are looking at EVERY option available to us to help any user affected.

This only applies to legacy games such as Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. In the future we plan to adjust our approach to not rely solely on platform security and reduce the ability for this to happen in our games, as has already been displayed by the work Treyarch has done on Call of Duty: Black Ops to prevent similar measures."

I love how they're the first ones to point out another companies fails, yet they say nothing about the game itself, pre-CFW, including OMA tubes death streaks etc. I also like how they blame it on the ps3 but ignore that its coming from activision's child, the 360.

It's funny how that bald headed **** is so quick to blame sony, but refuses to even mention microsoft. It's funny how the game became available for xbox users 2 weeks before it's release and ps3 users waited with no problem, yet still sony is the one with the problem. Microsoft threw their money in the face of Activision which in turn was thrown in the face of Infinity Ward (and that man especially) and now everything is good. Sony doesn't have to waste their time throwing money at a game that while selling good is also slowly losing it's true fan base. It took 4 years for the PS3 to be hacked and 2 years for the xbox, yet Sony is the one that has problems with it's security. As much as his money filled brain is told to believe it, PS3 is not the worser of the 2 evils. For Bowling to even dare talk about Sony's security when Infinity Ward doesn't even know how to stay together as a company is ****ing ridiculous. This man needs a serious reality check and needs to learn that money shouldn't cloud your mind when your trying to deliver a game the people will like.

This just further proves how biased IW is towards PS3. Maybe when their contract with Microsoft runs out in 2012 they'll be a bit more straight forward. Clowns... They can't even take responsibility. Their game was hacked on every system.. and so was Call of Duty 4. So what's the common denominator? Infinity Ward!

Yeah, it certainly sucks that this is happened to CoD... literally every single ground war lobby is hacked.

The only good in this is on Call of Duty 4, ProMod Search and Destroy Lobbies are amazing and fun. It would be awesome if they would implement a promod playlist into the action. Which unfortunately will never happen :(

of course infinity ward is gonna blame Sony. You know they just update their system security ALL THE TIME, and when people are caught hacking they get the ever-so-special 8002AD23 error but it's Sony's fault. Now people who go and hack lobbies and do CL's for people are the issue. But I have seen the one's who just use the hacks to make the games more fun in PRIVATE MATCHES (which is what I do). IW just you wait until Microsoft is done thrusting their manhood into you. You are gonna be in for a world of hurt.

IW is barely a studio anymore anyway. Activision is going to kill them off soon enough.
