This years E3 escalated and heated the formerly unspoken rivalry between MW3 and BF3. On Monday, Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s CEO, hopped on CNBC, stating that Battlefield 3 was merely a PC title with a insufficient target group. In retaliation, John Riccitiello, EA's CEO, commented on the matter and made clear that Kotick was "spreading misinformation" about Battlefield 3 and that it will be also be available for the consoles.

To further amplify the battle, both men had their own statements regarding this matter.

I can’t objectively tell you what I think of other products until I see them. Battlefield I’ve only seen on a PC and nobody’s seen it on a console yet. Most of our consumers play games on a console. Until I see it on a console, I wouldn’t be objective on commenting on it

It’s the beginning of the war and (Kotick) recognizes they’re going to be threatened. We’re going to have a clash of the titans this fall. The very fact that he’s trying to cast doubt on our game is a perfect example of how we got his goat. In terms of where this goes, we think our PS3 game is better than their Xbox game and our PC game is better than their PC game. If that’s all he’s got to say, it’s obviously going to evaporate as we launch all three. If you went to our press conference, you saw the PS3 footage and the Xbox footage. If Bobby thinks that is PC footage, he’s in real trouble.

Hmm, it seems as if Kotich was a bit more reserved in his response whereas Riccitiello came out swinging. He himself stated that "it's the beginning of war." He went on to mock Kotick's ignorance with his last sentence: "If Bobby thinks that is PC footage, he’s in real trouble." This, to me, just made the whole rivalry that much better! BF3 looked to really push the standards whereas MW3 looks like a polished version of MW2. However, I can't truly judge until I've played both, but from the looks of it, BF3 seems superior.

Even though Battlefield 3 looks better and stuff everyone will stick to MW3. Call of Duty is the bigger franchise and has a very big fan community. There is no online shooting game that will ever beat CoD.

From the statements made by developers and what we saw at E3, Battlefield looks to have won the battle, but Call of Duty will win the war.

More people are interested in Call of Duty multiplayer than they are in Battlefield. It's as simple as that. MW3 will beat BF3 in sales.

I do like the competition between the two developers though. It encourages companies to do well and improve on what they create. :y:

Mw2 looked way too much like Mw2? :carling:

I defeated!
MW3 will probably own BF3 in sales because activi$ion shits out cods every year and spend tons of money to advertise them, which makes the series get more hype year after year. Cod is easy for anyone to pick up and do good on where battlefield actually takes some skill and strategy, which little kids don't like.
