It seems as if this rivalry between the two companies is constantly broadening. Frank Gibeau, EA's President, added more fuel to the already burning fire by attacking the whole idea of Activision's "COD Elite," - a new feature in the upcoming MW3 where players must subscribe to gain access so some online features.

Frank said, "a conscious decision – we do not believe you should charge for social features. Social features attract gamers and create engagement, but if you want to talk about business strategy, it enhances how you monetise content. But I shouldn’t charge you to talk to your friends, or to learn how you did inside the game." Seems like a reasonable statement, and it implies that EA cares more about consumer satisfaction and that they aren't taking advantage of a previously free of charge feature. I'm loving this feud, however. It's getting my hyped for both games and I just might make the switch to EA this year...

I agree. In depth leader boards and groups/clans should be free from the start. COD elite, should be kinda like PSN Plus, where you get discounts on things like map packs.

I believe that the CoD series was great untill it became life for 7 years olds only caring about no-scopes, quickscopes and 360s. That's why, I'm turning my head towards EA this year. They really deserve it IMO.

The rivalry between Activision and EA is really starting to heat up. More competition leads to better games.

I do agree with Frank Gibeau, EA's President, that customers should not have to pay for social features. Activision is money hungry, simple as that. What would it hurt to let everyone enjoy COD Elite, and then make everyone pay the same amount of money for the map packs. Heck, it would be nice if they simply didn't charge for map packs at all. At least they could lower the price to $5.

I like the way EA is running there business. I wish BF was my game of choice over CoD, but sadly, it is not. EA is the developer customers appreciate.

They're just jealous they didn't think of it first to make a ton more money. Honestly it won't bother me that you have to charge for some other features. It's not going to be like they charge you $15 a month...

I hate these new features that involve money now, so many games are doing that. Idk if you've played Fight Night Champion, but if you want certain modes or fighters, you have to buy them with real money, kinda sucks. Another game is NFS Shift 2, if you want cars and don't have enough in game credits, they let you buy it through PSN, again, $$ I liked CoD4, it's what I mostly played and still play. Money is the biggest motivator.
