I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Just the troubles and past experiences of Apple and their products is enough to put me off every iPhone that gets released every 3 weeks.

warranty it is, go in and they will replace it but it's annoying having to wait at the apple store for 4-5 hours and they cant fix the problem to.

Are you high?
I think the iPhone 5 will be brought out to counter act the negativity of jobs leaving. It has all been planned very cleverly to stop everyone thinking this is the end because in a few months everyone will be thinking about the iPhone 5 and how good it is and everyone thinking "maybe this new guy can fill jobs shoes".

Since he'll be working with the same team Steve Jobs was using I can't imagine their products will be any different. If anything he'll add a younger and fresher twist and light to the company and it's products.
