During an interview on a livestream with machinima, Blowing hinted at an incredible amount of things. When asked about future DLC he had this to say:

What you’ll notice is that there’s two things we’ve been focusing on with DLC, and a lot of it all boils down to variety and, like, maps like [Liberation, Piazza and Overwatch] are all about variety of gameplay. But then, moving forward, we’re also looking at variety of just location – just places that you’ve never seen before in Call of Duty that are just meant to be beautiful, awesome places to play in. Some of the content drops we have coming up that we haven’t announced yet are places like that.
He went on to talk about maps in exotic places like Piazza for example, which tend to be the most fun to develop. Speaking of upcoming maps, Bowling also revealed this:

there’s some stuff we’re talking about that I think is going to be refreshing – different styles of maps that are not meant to be that “everybody” map. We’re looking at some map designs that have very specific purposes.
He then revealed his passionate side on throwback maps and playlist updates for everyone to enjoy:

If you’re going to do throwback maps – if you’re going to do classic maps, keep it outside the DLC model. For DLC, if you’re paying for stuff – if it’s included in your subscription, it should all be new content. If we’re going to do a throwback map, let that be outside the DLC model, let it be free, let it for everyone. Don’t let it be restricted by contracts, partnerships, and all that ****ing money stuff. Let it just be there.
If you remember, it was reported earlier that CoD4 and MW2 map file names were found in Modern Warfare 3. The relieving thing is, if they do come out, the price tag will be a whopping $0.00 !
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Microsoft's deal only affiliated with DLCs? If that's the case, then the nostalgic maps should be released on the same date for both platforms since the maps are "outside the DLC model." At least that's what I'm hoping for.
The following 2 users say thank you to +tA. Rick for this useful post:
Wow free maps on a Call of Duty game? Never thought I'd see one again after Makin Day.
This is only Bowling's opinion though right? So Activision still has to okay it and I'm not 100% sure on that. Hopefully it does happen.

Yes and the likelihood that activision are going to give the ok is very small :\ IMO

I would have gotten them early and free even if they would of costed money but I am glad they are bringing back maps
Well he says that now.. i don`t see why they would release them after the launch, wouldn`t they have made more money if they made a special edition of mw3 with the maps before launch?
