(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi, this is a thread for anybody interested in fighting games to come and chat. I'm not sure if many people here are into the FGC but I might as well find out. I'll be posting some various interesting things regarding them for all of your reading and you can post what you think of it. It's also a place for you to talk about all of your favourite fighting games and characters as well as tournaments, potential crossover games and more. Smile

So yeah the first think i'll post here is the news about the Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale DLC. As you may have heard, Crash Bandicoot isn't in the starting roster but Sony are trying their hardest to gain the rights to add him into the game. People have speculated that he should definitely be in the game because he is one of the most well-known characters to have appeared on the PlayStation. Other people have speculated that characters like Lara Croft and Solid Snake should appear. Here is the starting roster:

• Big Daddy
• Cole MacGrath
• Colonel Radec
• Dante
• Evil Cole MacGrath
• Fat Princess
• Heihachi
• Jak and Daxter
• Kratos
• Nariko
• Nathan Drake
• PaRappa the Rapper
• Raiden
• Ratchet & Clank
• Sackboy
• Sir Daniel Fortesque
• Sly Cooper
• Spike
• Sweet Tooth
• Toro

You can probably point out a few notables which haven't made it to the roster, but SuperBot have noted that they will definitely be adding DLC after the game is released.

In other news, a trailer for the Wii U edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been released on tekkenchannel. It shows more about the "Kinoko battles" which include Mushroom Battle and Tekken Ball as well as the advanced customization options. Customization has been updated with a paint feature which utilizes the Wii U touchpad, as well as some nintendo character themed costumes!

First of all, Smash Bros. is in fact a fighting game. Yeah, it's a party game but it comes under the Fighting genre. Refer here: You must login or register to view this content. Besides, it's covered by Fighting Game News websites such as EventHubs anyway...

Secondly, in comparison to other fighting games in the mix right now, P4A isn't very known at all. Yeah, it's known by the Fighting Game Community but they're not the general audience any more are they? If I went to go ask 10 people in my local game store to name 5 fighting games I'd be lucky to hear P4A even once, most probably wouldn't be able to name 5 anyway. It's pretty arguable that it's the best game in the FGC right now, once you put it next to TTT2, they pretty much ran the FGC this year seeing as DOA5 was a little disappointing and SFxT was just bleh (still buying it regardless).

Anyways, in other news:

Gamespot's Fighting Game Of The Year Announced

Of course brawl is going to come up as a fighting game, but its original purpose was to play with friends, you can take off items and put it on final destination all you want, its still a child friendly game that u can chill and play with friends with little to no rage.

Now see if you pop in SF4 or any other fighting game we just mentioned, there will be lots and lots of rage, or sweat, or other forms of stress.

SFXT was shit, yet all the fanboys who said they werent going to play it and invest in TTT2 all bought SFXT anyway. I got rid of SFXT day 3, thats how bad it was. Tired of playing shitty games.

I quit P4 like within 6 months, its a good game but the lacking of characters makes it feel like its missing something, also there were other things i just didnt like about the game after a while.

I havent touched DOA5 but i heard some people were looking forward to it, but i havent heard shit else about it.

But yeah thats pretty much it, not to mention CP *Chrono Phantasma* is coming out soon *BB3* and is going to have more characters. I'm going to be amazed if even less people play Blazblue next year, excuses cant keep you from picking the game up america.

Also, if you want to play a real straight up fighter, get one without stupid additions to it, something like SF2, good old one on one and me vs you, - my tricks, versus your tricks. Thats all you want really. Capcom isnt giving that anymore, so they are now shitty.

I suppose it could be called either a party game or a fighting game, I play it solo now and again.

That's the FGC nowadays for ya'. Not sure if you're a member of EventHubs, but half the people there said "OMG HARADA IS GIVIN FREE DLC GUISE LETS ALL GO BUY TEKKEN SCREW SFXT". Then TTT2's sales were announced and they turned out to be quite disappointing. It's a shame that such a great fighting game (the best in my opinion) didn't get the recognition it deserves, it was such an improvement from Tekken 6 as well. Do you think it's because it wasn't as accessible as previous instalments such as Tekken 5? I really think Namco Bandai need to dumb down the mechanics a bit when they go to release Tekken 7 or Tekken X Street Fighter, because fighting games are dieing and tough game mechanics are driving people away from it. Believe me, I'm fine with the TTT2 mechanics but lots of people are selling the game because they found it too hard.

I can't even find P4A in any of my local game stores, it's kind of a shame because in all fairness it seems like a pretty good game but it's obviously not as big in the UK I suppose. It's actually getting a lot of good recognition all things considered, it even won Spike VGA Best Fighting Game of the Year award.

I heard DOA5 had an incredibly poor net code, it also seriously lacks characters even with the VF5 ones included. DOA5 and VF5:FS weren't that popular this year, people say the main selling point of DOA5 was the cleavage anyways :p

BlazBlue, similar story to P4A for me to be honest. I see Continuum Shift sold for the Vita in game stores (but that might be because there aren't even that many games out on Vita atm). Would like to see games like BB and P4A get slightly more recognition.

In my opinion games like Street Fighter are ruining it's reputation because Capcom are releasing all that DLC and they pretty much release 5 versions of the same game. IDK, I'm surprised SF is still as popular as it actually is now.

Lol but this is the age we live in, the "I want your money for something you already paid for" era. Makes complete sense. But the buyers are just as bad, they feed this bad behavior and make the world turn.

If these guys werent spending their money on this garbage, SF would be known as being shitty, but people like to act like its good for no reason, its below average in my opinion.. 3rd strike and even alpha 3 are better...

I think it's only kept its reputation as a good fighting game because it's "the original" you know? I bought SSF4 this November and I got fed up with it after a week of playing it, it's only really fun with friends. The Online matchmaking sucked pretty hard too in my opinion. What's worse is that I found out that everybody's playing this even newer version called "SSF4 Arcade Edition" or something, so I paid 13 quid for the wrong version of the game

I really hope Tekken X Street Fighter will restore some hope in both franchises, fighting games are basically on the verge of death at the moment.

Remember how excited we all were when we saw this?

Not even, fighting games are continuing to run strong, the only thing thats on the verge of death are the fans, they like to buy so they will.

Its just america that has the problem right now, there are other FGC's all over the world, and americans are ignorant people, so its easy to understand why they dont buy what they say they will you know? They are driven by stupidity and repetition, so they will never tire of being sold out.

When i heard this was coming out there wasnt much reaction, but i did want to see what gameplay would be like, its ok... but ehhh something didnt feel right so i dumped it.

if Capcom can fix the timer issue, gems, and implement a better use for Pandora then maybe SFxT can be somewhat a decent game but for now I wouldn't hold my breath. Also you mentioned that you bought SSF4AE and started playing and had problem with the matchmaking? Well the thing is not that many casual/average player play the game online that much. You are going to run into 1000pp+ people more often than not, and if you are a somewhat of a good player then you might run into players with 2500pp-3000pp. If you played SSF4/AE when it came out at first you would run into players amongst your rank more often than not, but now it's sort of a rarity (especially on xbl).

Also to respond to Keomo, the FGC is dying because it is a community that does not cater to noobs/newcomers. Which in a sense makes the FGC more special/unique in my opinion but at the same time it hurts the FGC as the population/size of the FGC is not as large as you want it to be. Developers/Publishers take that into consideration and they plan out future paid DLC because they expect their games not to sell as high as any other non-fighting game. I really can't argue against your statement that a lot of Americans are ignorant when it comes to buying DLC but unfortunately that is the path the WHOLE gaming industry is moving towards and it's just a shift that we all have to sit back and watch happen because we can't do anything about it.

SFxT are releasing a 2013 Version patch in January, it fixes the timer issue and should probably nerf gems quite a bit. And of course the game will be re-balanced as well.
