You can only access it by editing a certain line in your save game. It's the only currently known way to enable the secret menu.

Anybody know which line you have to edit to enable it?

I don't know whether it's just a placeabo effect, but I took a standard car (1983 Mitsibushi Lancer @ 420pp) on to the 24hr Nurb track in arcade mode.

It felt like I was driving through treacle syrup while I was racing; the game was running much slower and the frame rate would drop to very low levels at times... but... with 16 cars on a wet track, I did not notice one single piece of screen tear, not one jaggied shodow, and the standard vehicles looked about as premium as I've ever seen. There was something about it, that all of the graphics looked extra smooth, clear and detailed.

I saved the replay (which filled up the memory bank in just 20 minutes) and will upload clips of it later on if I have the time, but I'd like to hear from someone else that's tried this high quality mode out and if they experienced the same thing.

By the way, thank you to ALL that have contributed to unveiling the depths of this game, it has brought so much more life and fun to it :y:. But at the same time, it just adds to my disappointment towards PD, what people have been able to do over the last couple of months should have been included in the game from the start.

I have that option enabled several times but never really went into the a race event so I never captured any replays until not long ago as of writing. I have noticed the huge increase in the size of the replay compare to the non high quality. I'm guessing instead of roughly one or so MB per lap, it jumps to somewhere close to 3-4 MB per lap (depending on the track used). When reviewing the recorded replays I too have noticed there was definitely smoother rendering of my car (using Chaparral 2D in a drift lobby on Autumn Ring) also there was minor lag with all the smoke.

I'd say it would lag because of the fact that the amount of data it needs to record along with all that rendering would have affected the machine as it would put a huge burden on the hardware whenever the race is held and you are in it. Ironically this also changes my perception of how the replays are actually saved. I'm really surprised that changing the quality of the saved replay does have an impact, I thought they used a completely different method of storing replay (by means of storing car co-ordinates and stuff) instead of storing actual captured footage or something.

My guess is that the purpose of high quality replay would probably be used to create nice trailers/intros for the game? :satisfied:

Besides that I haven't had much luck trying to disable the online lounge demo completely once I have enabled it. I ended up having to revert to my savegame with the secret menu enabled and prevent playing with that option again. I think I did manage to have one very minor breakthrough in terms of reverting whilst not being able to see player names along with any chat messages etc. The breakthrough was temporarily disabling chat in lounge and re-enabling it which only showed other player's country flags. I could still not be able to get further from that, though I may investigate further.

I've also noticed that when one changes their region and is in a race (mind you I've only tested this in lobbies not seasonal/{a,b}spec events) that if one ever gets to see their leaderboard upon crossing the finish line they could also see that beside their handle shows the region that they have specified. Unfortunately it seems to appear that it will not show anywhere else, not in ladderboard when you are in the lobby changing cars for example or even when going to save the replay. Though I must admit that it is already creepy enough one could change their flags even though their PSN account is registered to another different set, its like telling other affected PS3 in that session that you have this flag on instead of your PSN account flag. I guess others won't see you in a foreign flag anyway if you're not on track and/or they happen to be just looking at ladderboard in the lobby/lounge.

Somehow I don't believe one could change a car they are in simply by pressing F1 and a few buttons to enable swapping. If such were the case one would end up with one more extra car that they seem to be driving. It may also mean that this might be an even more faster way (in theory) to share glitch. However I'm going to test this out, I'm rather highly skeptical of it.

Confirmed, it does not work in my case. I do not have online lounge demo on but I have enabled lounge view change as well as change view using the keyboard in spectator mode. Besides the car data is hardcoded on the user's profile. There'd be no way that one could somehow swap the cars simply by spectating.

I tried this at the 24H Nurb also and had the same results. The game acted like I was driving in slow motion. I thought the same thing and went back and shut the high quality replay off. When I went back and watched the replay, it seemed normal but during the race it was unusable because of how slow the game was running. I also like that we can choose which cars are in each A-spec race. This may make for some cool offline endurance races in A-spec.

Or you could simply have a save game with a successful secret menu enabled stored on your USB. Whenever you don't have a trade/changes/etc going on you can always revert back to that same old save game with secret menu enabled.

I guess this is still doable if you want to make actual changes to your game (e.g. made custom settings for a car), you simply revert to a save that does not have the secret option enabled do whatever you need and then edit again so that it'll reappear. I'm certain this should work theoretically.
