It's not as hard as you assume. Being a hidden paint that PD likely used for testing. I likely meant that the paint code was most likely
A.) at the low end of the color codes
or
B.) at the high end of the color codes
I started on the high end based on experience with the wheel color sample and car color sample body codes that I shared a while back. Which were found on the high end of the body code spectrum just before the X1 and the DLC cars.
Then using that same kind of assumption I figured the DLC paints were the highest since they were likely produced last by the production team. And if you check the DLC paints thread you notice they are in the 01 90 0F FF range.
So this paint was either going to be just before this range or just after this range. I started going upwards with 01 A0 0F FF and testing up from there finding more paints. So you jump up higher to 01 B0 0F FF and you find paint chips labeled 5727cc but don't really do anything but change the car to black. Since I have now found paint chips with the label 5727cc I figured I'm in the correct area.
So this leads me to believe it is between 01 A0 0F FF and 01 B0 0F FF. That narrows the search immensely. Trial and error leads me to 01 AA 0F FF (which paints the car with this special paint.) So now I've found it and then use the Rim code equation of taking the decimal ammount of 01 AA 0 and dividing that in half and switching back to Hexadecimal code which is D50. So the full paint code for car and rims is 01 AA 0D 50.
So was it simple? no. But if you know your way around bruteforce and HxD and then use reasoning. Not overly difficult to discover.
