Ran a few laps at Streets of Willow tonight and I was able to get her into the 1:19's consistently. I've started refining the set up and its working out nicely. If I have time I'll head back to Big Willow to push for 1:24 - 1:25

1.24,x is possible with a perfect lap, but it's really challenging to do it. If I combined 2 of my best laps, the time would be 1.24,x. This kind of lap needs perfect setup for Your own hand and good luck. Time under 1.25,5 is more than very ok.

I think there are some parts to improve in my setup, but my knowledge is not enough to solve it - I have reached my limit. There are some parts of the track I know I could go faster, but not with my own setup. I think suspension, front camber, front toe, maybe rear toe and arb might be a solution for better setup, but for that I must see examples from Ode, Bread and Sinister to find a solution.

Suspensions are the difficult part for me: front end is not so precise what I want ( little under steering) and the rear end has little unwanted tendency to slide. One click in arb will change the car too much, so the fine tuning must be done with suspension, camber or toes. I'm slow ( new track ), so I'm still on Big Willow.

I hope Sinister, Ode and Bread could post setups here, when setups are ready.

I'll try to do my no aero setup ready first, there is just too much things on real life going, it leaves me so narrow time window on ps3 and tuning needs bit more than just jump on seat and drive Smile

Yes, it takes time.

It's easy to do ok setup, but if You want to do extremely good setup, this fine tuning part will take much more time than I could ever have guessed. This fine tuning part needs also huge amount of knowledge - surprisingly much. I thought I knew something, but now I know I'm just started to learn.

There are two worlds, making setup and making fine tuning.

Hi All,

86 Work in progress.
At last check, I'm running (on Streets, DS3):

*Edited, correct specs from PS3 now*

90/90
4.70/5.50
2/2
2/3
1/3
0.2/2.0
-0.35/0.00

Brakes 4/5

Diff IT 15 /Ac 40 / Dc 10

No wing (Yet!)

Just edging into the high 1'19 s. Often low 1'20 s.
~~~
TO DO:
Wing
Ride height and damps may need a bit of fine fettling. But I'm not touching ride height until I decide to use a wing (and how much!)
Big Willow
~~~

Has anyone found that drifting the tight left after the long downhill esses is faster? I messed up when using high rear brake balance, put the car sideways. Out of frustration I hammered the gas and halfheartedly attempted a steering correction (slight oppo).. somehow ended up at the trackout point ahead of my ghost!

That sounds like a great replay finish.

When I was running DS3 last week I was at Silverstone GP and my hot lap there involved me "drifting" the last set of corners to the finish line. Not so much drifting as a error of mine (too much throttle with too much Steering angle) had me fishtailing through the first right and then I just throttled through corner countersteering easily on the DS3. It looked cool as all hell but really I made a mistake and saved it in a cloud of tire smoke, hehehe anybody ask tho & I planned it the whole time Happy

Going to try and get some seat time today, hard when its such a big weekend in the UFC, last night was an epic UFC card, best in a while, and there's another fight tonight.

This is my amateur setup. It's really good for my driving style on Big Willow. Time 1.25,144.

90. 90
4.50 5.50
2 2
2 3
2 4
0,6. -0,35 front
1,7 0,30 rear
Breaks, 4 4
Diff. 11 40 14

I couldn't do fine tuning without Breads help. There were some parts what I took directly from Bread and some parts I got right direction from Breads setup. Our setups was very close each other.

I really like this kind of exercise. It's team work and it gives more fun to do setups together. I wouldn't spent so much time for setup without You guys. This time wasn't waste of time - I really learned very many new things about secrets of fine tuning. It's surprising, how much those very little changing can change the cars behaviour.

If someone find something about setup, witch can improve handling, I would be grateful.

I have a photo of the drift, unsure if I saved the replay (hope I did). 86 is white with black hood so will prob attract flak for being a ricer/initial D fanboy!

Jouni - you started with some ride height rake - so did I. Looking back, I put mine flat when I was running too much rear ARB to try and tame the rear on exit. With better ARB, some rake may be OK.

Just ran my setup with wing 15... It's better through the fast curves before fishbowl. Lap time similar overall though, needs more testing....

No hate on a car that is running a black hood, its a muscle car style originally.. Either way the car you built is about business Happy

I'm running rake and wouldn't have it any other way. The car IMO needs it just to sit right. A rake is needed on this car for it to be level. The numbers might be offset but the ride height is not. What's considered level in the real world has always been how the car sits and it doesn't matter if a different drop on each end is used to get there. A level ride height has nothing to do with equal numbers.
