@Jouni, Google is my friend.. First digging if owner manual is available(stock ride height, camber range, toe, wheel+ tyre size, power, weight etc), then forums of current car enthusiasts(what they prefer for custom suspension, how custom suspension changes camber and toe etc), bit more digging from aftermarket part dealers/manufacturers and rest is just know how.
Stock version spring rates are really hard to find on many cars, aftermarket springs could obtain easily.
Make sure at you have latest settings for BMW, not changing it anymore.
Lol, or so I thought, found this:
Getrag 235/5, optional close-ratio 5-speed for the 2002:
Gotta test those race gears, and fix first gear.
Can't get first gear on scale on race gearbox, so decided to leave as is on street box.
Modified power setup on racecar, giving better handling and higher top speed on increased redline place.

This is very good video. After watching this and looking closely how Ode is using throttle, I can drive much better with his setup. It's nice way to learn - video and setup - everything what You need.
Replica Bmw is very good car for learning purpose ( table page 103 ), it's pretty sensitive and reactive - easy to feel changes in setup. It's also good, because with CS tyres You can go easily over the limit of grip. But with grateful driving You can also stay on the edge of grip limit. With softer tyres You probably can't reach the limit and therefore can't see the influence of small changes in setup.
After few hours with this car, trying different setup and moving around Odes setup, I have focused the amount of camber. At this point I'm level 2,5 / 2,0, arb 6 / 5, only minor changes of dampers, those changes allow me to push little bit harder. In this point I haven't change ride high or springs, only little changes to see the influence.
I haven't test the race version properly, but I think it might be good for me to add little bit more front camber to increase confident of this car.
Edit:
Now I changed this car a lot to the direction, what I normally use. Time difference 0,6 sec and I feel myself much more confident and I can push the car more the way I like. It's faster in my hands, but it isn't a replica anymore and changes of setup is more difficult to see. There is more benefits for learning to use replica version, so i prefer Odes setup ( I don't use this car for racing, it's just for fun ).
Changes, everything else is among Ode:
112 115
5,95. 3,64
3 2
3 2
6 5
0,6 1,8
-0,26 0,36
Break 5 5

@Jouni, had to learn drive like that long time ago, really light car with 0.24hp/kg and lock on rear, lot of tolerance on Drivetrain, sudden liftoff would make tolerance to go other side and giving nice bang and then hitting lock, and that wasn't smooth.
But not a bad habit, it teach to keep power changes smooth and you won't unsettle body by sudden throttle lifting, makes throttle steering easier and you won't loose traction, you can imagine how crucial that was on winters
Because of that throttle steering I state FWD cars as 2-wheel steered and RWD cars as 4-wheel steered.
Sounds like ice track and Starlet or VW. - Very good learning package.
I tested also the race version of Bmw. This is a difficult system, really difficult. I have a strong feeling that me and this race version will never be lowers. Ok, back to driving school and lessons for that smooth power changing and lessons for better control of weight transfer.

Looks like Sinister has very serious problems with his internet. For killing time and have some fun, the following practice might be intresting.
I'm very curious to know what cars are the "winning races type" of cars on level 400 pp and 500 pp. Maybe Shelby series one on 500 pp level might be one of those cars, but what else. At level 400 pp I don't have any ideas. I would like to hear successions for those cars and maybe we could try to make a setup for those cars - replica type or race type of setup.
There are many iconic cars ( like kpgc10, 2000gt, cobra, 250 gto and many others ), that everyone should have in garage. Setup for some of those could be also intresting. There might be some other successions like problems with physics etc for having some fun - so put Your ideas here.
@Jouni, I'm more interested on cars what people keep impossible/hard/annoying to drive or tune. Tuning such a car with real-world style setup and get it going on better half of grid on same pp level cars on online is more fun for me.
Like tickling podium places on 450pp cs/sh online races with BMW 2002 replica is giving big pleasure to me, knowing at even changing gearbox it would reach gold much often I'd rather stay few places behind and laugh on my own when ending results I have common winner cars behind and I'm on podium or really close to it. Plus on those races I'm normally only one running without ABS, if there is no friends on lobby.
If you have idea of some really challenge car to tune I'd like to hear it.
I think there are no impossible cars for You, because You can drive so smooth and can control the rear of the car, like race version of Bmw 2002 ( replica version is very nice ). If I put a list of cars what I think they are difficult to make a setup, the list would be very long.
Here are some of those more difficult cars:
Dino, Cobra, Hommell, Tamora, Art Morrison, Mazda Cosmo L10B.
I don't have Ruf ( ctr, ctr2 ), but those might be impossible. I have seen many on the track, but I haven't n seen anyone who can really drive those cars and win races with those. Fast in the straight but cornering is a different story.
R390 is not difficult to tune, but there should be a replica version of this car. Looks like people don't really know this car, because You see very rare this car on the track. Information for replica might be difficult or impossible to find.
Some iconic cars around 450 pp or lower, witch You see rarely on the track. Nice cars but not necessarily winning cars in the race:
KPGC10, 2000gt, Alpine 110, Isuzu Bellet, Alfa Giulia, MB 300sl, Aston Vantage ( maybe not ok for 450pp ), e-type.
CTR2 tamed long time ago(on gtplanet under MadFinnTuners garage, use stock wheels), but that Art Morrison would be nice, tested it once, it was really fun car to drive.
CTR has also been on treatment, tune might need small tweak/update.

Lol, Art Morrison is the most difficult on my list.
It's very elegant car. I have it for cruising, for learning new track and for watching landscape. Races with this has been too challenging for me. I never succeed to make a good and drivable setup for this. There is something similar between Cobra and Art Morrison, but Morrison is hugely more demanding.
If I remember correct, I had problems in the front- understeer. The car is very reactive for throttle - just leave Your racing shoes off. I have a strong feeling that it's one of those cars that can't be tamed properly. Good choice.
