Post: [Help] Problem with CFW
10-17-2014, 02:42 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I recently purchased a Jailbroken PS3 from a friend and the following problems have arose:

The console doesn't allow the CFW to be updated. Error 8002F957

"The data is currupted."

Install Package Files doesn't allow files to be installed. Error 80010017

"An error occurred during the start operation."

MultiMan won't open. Error 80010017

He doesn't remember what CFW he installed but in System Information it says 4.50. The files were installed in January of 2013 if that's any consolation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want my money to go to waste.

Update: Someone told me to format the Hard Drive so I did. So I'm currently trying to downgrade it but it still gives the error codes. I have correct Format on the USB but it still gives "The data is currupted."

Do you suggest me using a new USB or what?

Could be wrong but it really sounds like your ps3 might be on ofw. I've seen before where someone accidentally upgrade to ofw but still had app home, install package files, and homebrew on their Xmb. Every time they would try to launch homebrew they would get errors like you plus it would explain why you get corrupt data when trying to install cfw.

I really hope that's not the case how would I check to see if I'm on an OFW because the install files are still present

Now that I don't know. I think the person I mentioned forgot a disc inside while updating so they thought they were on ofw but unsure cause of the homebrew still present. Whoever helped them replied that the Xmb doesn't change when doing an update unless it's a major one I believe. Your situation could be different tho, I was just saying that it sounds similar.
