Update: 7200 rpm 250 gb hdd w/ 16 cache installed and running smoothly. I can notice a little difference in the loading speed (faster) and playing cod4 online last weekend w/ it was a little faster

just for everyone saying "who needs that much space" it all depends on what you do with your ps3, for instance, I use it for my family pictures, music and rip my DVD collection to DVD quality MPEGS that are 2GB each so that I dont have to find a Disc each time to watch a movie. when we have people over i can start a slideshow of family pictures and leave some music playing at the same time etc. things like that fill up my HDD pretty quick. but mostly the DVDs, and I know i could have it external, but i like that when the videos are saved locally i can edit the 'icon' for the movie and I rename the field of each movie that says "album" to sort by type, like action, comedy etc.

99.99 not bad, but you would have to sacrifice some space. I'm unsure if they make a 500 gb 7200 rpm, but I would guess no. Both seagate and wd make a 320 gb 7200 rpm, both 99.99 on newegg.com
