(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); hey things are going good now days. we might be able to downgrade to any firmware? well lets look into it.

French site PS3GEN has reported that PS3 Developer RichDevX, is working on a payload, to get the PS3 into Service Mode, here is a translated quote from the source:

As shown in this first image, we can see the red box on the XMB showing that the console actually went into service mode. In this mode, it is possible to run specific software, including one allowing the domwgrade (the opposite of update, ie back to a previous firmware). Who says so says downgrade opportunity to go 3.15 for the benefit of new and more otheros hack with PSGroove.

Payload through this, it is also possible to run each time you start the console, loading a file. Self from a USB key as explained above. This could allow the hack using only one time a dongle or other, then your USB stick could complete the task alone. Advances in the underground world push the limits even further, watch this.

Thats recovery mode, NOT service mode.

agreed dude i wish people would do some research...:jim: the pictures with the red box is from a ps3 that has been put into factory/service mode, this mode is used by sony engineers to restore the system and re-asign fw updates. the factory/service mode can be used in conjuction with a batch of files that were released over a year ago named as... jig. the jig is stored on a usb and booted on the ps3 which enables the ps3 to enter factory/service mode. this mode then allows you to downgrade any ps3 even 3.5 to fw 1.00 as stored within the jig as sony would or via fw stored on any usb, it also allows you to run unsigned software if you have the correct tools (sony exclusive.. good luck getting your hands on them apps) it is very complicated... Once the PS3 is re-flashed with the fw, it is then used in conjunction with a PC running customized software, specifically the DEX.exe and CEX.exe's. There are a multitude of special PS3 firmwares, basically three major ones. The first is a Core System, followed by the Service System, then finishing it off with the Final Software.. usually Retail. From the CEX/DEX PC side software, just about anything can be done: Copying, transfer and resigning of box-specific items like PSN games, user profiles, etc......Outie

No, this would enable 3.41 jailbroken users to downgrade to what they choose.

As well as a LOT more.
This was released ALONG time ago. Even before there was a jailbreak.
