Ok guys, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this just in apparently SONY has made it even harder to stay on 3.41. Sony is taking drastic steps as future games will require 3.42 or 3.50 to play period see quote below. Medal of Honor has been confirmed as the first game to implement this security.

"Right now, the piracy and backup-enabling PS3 Jailbreak requires firmware 3.41 to be loaded on the PS3. Sony summarily released a new firmware, 3.42 that killed the exploit. Cheap pirates though opted to stay on the earlier firmware, losing PSN connectivity.

Now their options have been lessened even more.

Looks like new games will be shipping with the new firmware, rendering the Jailbreak useless. EA’s upcoming Medal of Honor has been confirmed to ship with, and require firmware 3.42. Attempts to circumvent the firmware requirement have thankfully proven fruitless, making it seem like Sony’s winning the cat and mouse game at the moment. Those who’ve tried have been greeted with a “80010019″ error message.

It’s pretty inevitable that all anticipated games from now on – Black Ops, GT5 and the like – will include similar protection, making PS3 Jailbreaker’s days of wanton thievery numbered."

i have heard (myths) that you just need to edit the param.sfo file.

im sure someone will update there ps3 and then get the MoH patch and extract and edit it. Then use the data transfer method to move the patch from your 3.41 ps3 to ur updated one. The majority of people with challenge lobbies atm have more then 1 ps3 anyway

This should not be allowed by Sony. Think of people who do not have internet access and have to play their PlayStation 3 on a lower firmware simply because they don't play online?

yeah same thing Above said ^. they can't do that. If someone has a ps3 in a caravan home or somewhere they go for hols and doesn't have internet they won't be able to play the game. They aren't allowed to do that. If they do they will have a big case of user rights to deal with. Yes maybe you have to have the right fw to go online with it but there will be lots of things people can do to bypass this.

As long as theres a way to have a hacked black ops patch on 3.41, I'm not bothered.

The firmware will just come on the disc like it does with PSP games.

Damm, back to the drawing board I must admit I am rather surprised that SONY did this so soon I guess with the big titles releasing later on this year and early 2011 they want to make sure there covered.
