(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Claud has posted an interesting guide here on how to downgrade firmware only on Sony PS3 Slim console. Not directly, but internally. This is very useful if you have a PS3 Slim console with newer PS3 firmware than the 3.41 which you want to Jailbreak.

Although, i am not sure with Claud’s statement that the PS3 firmware was installed in the internal hard drive instead of the system’s memory of PS3 Slim. If you have anything to say about this, please drop a comment. I really would like to know your thoughts since i have no experience swapping hard drives in my PS3 slim console myself. You can read Claud’s guide here:

If you have a PS3 SLIM Edition, then you need to open the PS3 and take out the internal hd:

1. Connect it to a PC
2. Delete the partition on it or format it
3. Put back the hd inside the ps3
4. Have a usb flash ready with firmware 3.41 under [ROOT] \PS3\Update folder structure
5. Install the 3.41 firmware
6. Works only with the new PS3 SLIM Editions, FAT does not store the firmware on the internal hd

Could someone test this? i have a slim but it my only one! other one broke

How many of these threads are going to keep coming up? The firmware is not stored on the F***ING HDD PERIOD! Anyone ever think about how PCs BIOS works or even how any other electronic device works that is able to have its firmware updated? It's stored on a chip on the mainboard, Think of the firmware as the BIOS in a way. If the firmware was stored on the HDD then how can the PS3 turn on and display a message saying "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found." without the HDD in it?

I've tried it over a month ago, and any person who knows anything about how firmware is accessed and stored would know better. You can even take out the HDD and access the recovery menu and it will still tell you that you need firmware 3.50 or later to update PROVING THAT THE F***ING FIRMWARE ISN'T ON THE HDD! That's like saying if I erase my iPod HDD and somehow put firmware on the HDD (which isn't even possible) and then starting my iPod up it will magically be on a different firmware. Jesus! use your brains people, it's not hard to understand.

Calm down man jeez if people didn't try new things we wouldn't have the psjb or anything good like that.

I understand your point and I appreciate others branching out to other possibilities, but it's a waste of time and effort when methods or ideas that are proven to not be beneficial are repeated over and over.

Here is a quick video that I hope will prove my point. I don't mean to offend anyone by this video, but I just wanted to show others that this "avenue" is a waste of time and effort.
