Post: Lag Switch Not Freezing
03-01-2009, 09:13 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My lag switch connection won't work. I know it's nothing wrong with switch itself because my friend used it on the same settings, on his console and my router. Anyways, when I flip it, it will lag everyone and make them move choppy but not completely freeze them. I'm not sure if this helps but my console's manufacturing date is September 2007 and his is March 2008. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

(my router is one of those '2Wire' modem/routers, if that will help)

W/eOk Garrett I have researched some shit and this it what I found out. With the older PS3 models (your ps3) the ethernet port on the rear of the console is diff. In order to get full lag you must cut the SOLID GREEN wire.Take the switch off the cable and reatach the ORANGE wire with elctrical tape. Then cut the GREEN wire and apply it to the switch then test it out. If you have any problems call me.Peace nigz.
I hate to crap on your parade Burt...but they are right.* There are two types of eithernet cables.* TIA-568B is the one that requires the orange cord to be switched.* The other is TIA-568A I believe, (ive never had one).* It requires the green cord to be switched.* It has nothing to do the "port" nor what kind of console you're using.* My answer for u guys is this:* The total freeze that ur talking about.* Its all about ur internet speed.* If ur under the required speed to standby it will usually cause the "choppy" effect.* Your friend that u said it works great for probably has a better bitrate than you.* As for burt....don't be hating on the Lord.* Ignorance could cause you to lose ur soul.

easiest way would be setting it back to 100base-T (10base-T FULL duplex might work if you're lucky), but it will probably disconnect you unless you have a network switch.

Since I am so awesome I shall give it a go, Are you setting up the switch between the modem and the router or the router and the ps3
If you are hooking it up between the router and the ps3
Try hooking the switch up between the modem and the router
If you are hooking it up between the modem and the router
Then try hook it up between the router and the ps3
Also I know for me i need to have a another ethernet cable after my switch to keep from being disconnected instantly
Let me know your results

I am using a modem that has the built in Router so there is one E cable from it to my p3. I go some lag time when i bought a cat 6 cable and using the green wire but it inconsistent. If i cut of my p3 and turn it back on I will be back to getting the no e cable right away????

I have exact same problem to fix this unplug the cable from the back of the ps3 then replug it. Most likely you'll have to do this after each ps3 reboot.
