Post: You Can't Just Sign a Package
01-07-2011, 06:23 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys I just wanted you to know that you can't just sign the package and install it. Its not that simple. In order to run the package you have to mod the kernel for it to be allowed to run. Yes, it will install, but it won't run because your kernel isn't modded. That's why that one guy that posted his breakthrew on signing a package wasn't able to get it to work. Geohot in his video was using an unsigned .pkg because we was able to mod the nos/nar couldn't understand him lol. Its more than just signing the package. I know I will probably get negative repped from this and people will call me a retard but w/e. But if not if you think this is helpfull I wouldn't mind some help getting a star

Edit: Not only does the kernel stop us but drm stops us from booting off hdd.

again as i stated in other threads yes you can, offical games from sonys website will not run as it has copyright protection (along with DLC), the only thing that will not run homebrew wise (along with anything else that needs "flashed" drm) is the back up manager as it would require you to flash the drm to run the game, you can however bypass copyright protection from sony offical PSN games by editing the decompiled .pkg and bypass the back up manager restrictions by changing where it looks for the game, again needing .pkg decompiler and signer..

It is not the signing thats the problem, its the DRM. The DRM is what is stopping stuff from running off of the HDD.

he's right but I think a lot of people are still looking to sign a pkg because it seem to be the first step since you need to first install it before running...

Considering I am knocking on 30's door, I resent that statement.
