That been said:

I have seen a lot of people talking about Sony releasing a new firmware update that will possibly brick your PS3. Well, i have something to say about this: Well as all of you may know, us jailbreaking our own purchased PS3's can actually benefit Sony's sells; how many kids out there probably went a head and bought new PS3 just because they knew it will be jailbreak-able or just because they could have "Cl's" on Modern Warfare 2. More thing that will prevent Sony from bricking our PS3's is that they cant brick something WE HAVE BOUGHT. They simply cant do that, i for one, will sue the fuk outta them if they do that, thats simple nonsense, plus we all have to remember Sony is a multimillion company, probably the best in the world when it comes to electronics (not sure about this). A third point is that jailbreaking and running your own custom code is actually LEGAL as it is LEGAL to jailbreak an iDevice. I hope this cleared some confusions, and thanks for reading Smile

Yeah a bricked console is not so much what I care about. A permabanned online console is almost worthless to me since I only play online games.

It's illegal to tamper and sign programs on the PS3, you are wrong. Virtual or not, forging is very, very illegal.

I don't recall this or not, but I don't think Apple had the rules against Jail breaking there devices, sony may have found a way to keep themselves from being sued. I guess the simple way to put it is this, I can sell you this gun, you can use this gun to steal from a store down the road, but I am in no way liable for you stealing that stuff. Sony has nothing to lose with piracy, which is what will happen, the game makers do. The freedom to recode a device is our own, but taking the code we made and releasing it is fraud, that code is partially ours yes, but mostly sony and we cannot take responsibility for it. There are so so many more factors then just us manipulating our consoles to get it to our wants/needs that sony can come after us for. The question is, will the spend the money to do it

Jailbreaking is only legal for iPods, iPhones, etc. When jailbreaking any other device it can be classified as illegal. However the only thing Sony will do is not treat any ps3's that are still in warranty that are jailbroken as jailbreaking DOES void your warranty.

Also for a company to make a product YOU bought unusable is against their own policies. Unless we are actually using the ps3 to run pirated games or something they have no right to do so.

the courts ruled willful interference by the company (Sony in this case) in the matters of a jailbreak is illegal. Sony is not allowed to break your system or deny you the right to do so. Regardless of what their bullshit TOS say. It violates the DMCA. They can however boot your from their private network. So be cautious. But don't fear.

Indeed. The previous jailbreak was technically legal because it allowed you to run unsigned code. This new CFW however is very illegal because you are forging the signature.
