Post: Sony's rights and Custom Firmware.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Sony has the right to deny you service, they do not have the right to damage your personal property.

Here is what I see sony doing to prevent piracy and hackers:

1. when you log in it does a system check for current firmware.
- if you have anything other that their current revision. You do not get logged in, but instead get a warning about why you cannot log in.

2. Before you can play any game, it will check for which system.
- are you playing from the Blueray drive or are you playing from the HDD, if your playing from the HDD you will not get access to the system.

3. When you are confirmed as being valid. (met the two above requirements) it will tell you you must install the current patch, and will do so before the start of every game online. If you refuse, you get refued access to the online system.

That is their best way to proceed, as the CFW isn't illegal. but piracy is. Hacking your PS3 patches is not but it is Sony's right to deny you service for doing so.

#2 is dumb there are many games that you dl from the store so your trying to say if we downloaded one of those and tried to play we'd be seen as hackers and denied access?

as you said, they can deny you service but not damage your personal property. by that, they cannot cause your system to not work in any way. they can only block you from accessing the psn. they cannot cause games to not work, and they cannot force an upgrade to a different firmware.

It already checks if you have the latest firmware before you can sign in, and it already checks you have the latest patch before you can play a certain game online.
The only thing they could implement is the HDD boot check.

I honestly dont think that Sony is going to do anything about it. I think Sonys main focus is to gather all the firmware and downloads so it will not go any further. I honestly dont think anyone will be banned or denied service because before this noob as 3.55 sh*t i never got banned and i host online challenge lobbies for paying customers everyday. I think everyone is thinking way to hard about this one..... just my opinion please dont blast me..:tits:

the last one is stupid. some patches take ages to download, like an hour. And what happens if they're ps3 stuffs up and they want to go back on to that game? They'd have to download it again and that'd just be really annoying

How will sony know if its purchased or not from a diffrent acc

Not 5 users its 5 PS3 systems you can install it on. which in most cases gives more than 5 logins access to the download.

ive never noticed a limit on how many users can play a game. so long as the game was downloaded onto the system by the original purchaser, the game is able to be played by all users on the system. an account can be shared over 5 ps3's. very simple concept.

No I Dont Think. #2 Is Possible Because PSN Store Has Online Games Like MAG You can Download To Your Harddrive And Play Online

There is many different ways Sony can handle it, primarily, as I said they have the right to deny service. For any reason at all, they do not have to allow you to use their servers.

Key thing to remember is you agree to an EULA, if you violate that in any way, they can deny you service.

If you read through it, there is even an account naming section and if your account name offends someone, be it offensive or not they can usse that as an excuse to deny you service.
