The firmware is stored on the HDD. Thats a fact.

Now, what i think ( from my knowledge) is what is inside the NAND is the INFORMATION about the most up-to-date firmware and nothing else. I could be wrong, thats why people might try things in order to get it work.

Also if you put a 2.5'' HDD with 3.55 firmware in to the same ps3 that has a 3.56 firmware on the other hdd it will run 3.55 since its on the HDD.

You sir is wrong about the firmware being on another flash mem chip on the ps3.....

thats not a fact. when mw2 challange lobbies were first shown by the unknown and hunter, people were making theories on how they got the challange lobbies running, one of them had to do with the ps3 firmware on the ps3 HDD and they confirmed that it is stored on a flash memory and not on the HDD. if you upgrade your hdd, you can only install the most recent firmware installed on it or a newer one.

Your wrong, and thats a FACT. The most important data goes into the NAND I think. Changing hard drives will not cause you to dwngrade in any way. If you switch hard drives from a 3.56 to a 3.41, you will not be able to jailbreak for example. Learn your facts before you post. Its been tried before, it DOESN"T WORK.

Following your logic, why would you have to reinstall your firmware when you change your hdd to an empty hdd since its not located on you hdd.....

Let me know how the ps3 can fit 176 mb firmware in a 16 mb NAND and i will believe everything you stated.

Let me know that you can read by reading my whole post, including the second thing that I stated. You can do it, don't worry.

Anyways i said what is my opinion. Maybe i'm wrong, even in what considered as facts.

Unless you can post some sources/proofs, your opinion is not more valid than mine.

Thanks

I don't need proof, its common knowledge that the important information is stored in the nand. Hell, even hunter128 said so himself many times, and he was the first to make challange lobbies on the ps3. Its common facts that you are aruging with, not me. Some information is stored on the HDD. How much information stored is unknown to me at least. But the NAND will not let you downgrade with the HDD in any normal way.
