Now, what i think ( from my knowledge) is what is inside the NAND is the INFORMATION about the most up-to-date firmware and nothing else. I could be wrong, thats why people might try things in order to get it work.

Also if you put a 2.5'' HDD with 3.55 firmware in to the same ps3 that has a 3.56 firmware on the other hdd it will run 3.55 since its on the HDD.

You sir is wrong about the firmware being on another flash mem chip on the ps3.....

Thats because the NAND is inside the hard drive

Unless you can post some sources/proofs, your opinion is not more valid than mine.

Thanks

The PS3 downloads the firmware to the HDD, then the PS3 itself prepares and commits the firmware to the NAND chip. Why do you think after you download it via internet, it takes so long for it to be installed?

The firmware is not ''installed'' in the nand chip......

NAND chip is 16mb

The firmware is 176 mb ( compressed)

duh.

I takes time to unzip the .pup and copy files on the hdd.

Your theory makes no sens.

I belive that only sensitive information goes into the NAND chip. As the most up-to-date version information. Thats would explain why it refuses to take anything but 3.56 (right now).

The firmware is stored on the HDD after downloading, then it is prepared and then stored on the NAND. Partial bits of the firmware are stored on the HDD.

No what i mean is the NAND chip is installed inside the hdd but its not part of it so if you took a hdd out of a 3.55 ps3 and put it in a 3.56 ps3 the ps3 would have firmware 3.55 on it
