(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); was readin up about the removal of certain functions from the ps3, and would love to know exactly what has been removed from the software with each so called update? I.E. what functions have we paid for, been taken away from us, and how much we, as payin customers, have not been refunded and re-embursed for our losses?

if anyone has copies of the firmware updates and could make any comparisons to find out what we have lost? if we get these comparisons, then we could make a legal argument that sony has effectively stolen from us, WHETHER PROPERTY IS PHYSICAL OR DIGITAL, IF SOMEONE TAKES IT WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT, THAT IS THEFT! and sony have stolen from millions of us!:hitman:

CHECK THIS GUYS EFFORT OUT

jus read the new terms on the latest update, sony are tryin to cover their arses by saying they've taken these functions to protect our security and also altered the terms to allow themselves to access all our data on our systems, surely they may be entitled to alter software to do with the network, but altering my software that has nothin to do with online gameplay or networking, is not on! they take the ****in piss!
if that was apple sayin they were now allowing themselves acces to all your iPhones there would be ****in outrage, but as most ps3's are owned by younger citizens, who generally dont make it their business to know their digital rights, these infringements of basic rights seem to be overlooked, as the ppl affected have no idea it is being done. we are old enough to do something about it though!
we need to raise awareness of what sony is doing to the digital rights of its customers! we are paying top money, for a top console, THAT DOESN'T PERFORM TO THE STANDARD THAT WAS PROMISED OR NOW EVEN HAVE THE SAME CAPABILITIES THAT IT WAS SOLD WITH! i want all the functions of my ps3 back! FOR EXAMPLE; WOULD YOU FORK OUT £100,000 FOR A LAMBORGHINI THAT WAS RESTRICTED TO 80MPH?
of course not
WOULD YOU THEN ALLOW LAMBORGHINI TO REMOVE CERTAIN FUNCTIONS, FROM YOUR PROPERTY, AT THEIR WILL, SUCH AS THE STEREO OR TRACTION CONTROL WITHOUT GIVING YOU MONEY BACK????

BLOODY RIGHT YOU WOULDN'T

SO WHY ARE WE ALLOWING IT WITH OUR CONSOLES????

we need to do something about this but alone we dont stand a chance, together we can make them pay attention, a suit has been filed in the US and the amounts of money that they calculated are at stake, were in the MILLIONS, we have the law on our side too.

LAWS MADE FOR DAYS LIKE THESE WHEN BIG COMPANIES TRY AND SCREW THE CONSUMER!

WE CAN GET OUR MONEY BACK!

Sony are a little bit jerky, but look at it from their point of view: If NGU had a console, we wouldnt want people to hack it and make it do something it wasnt meant to. Sony is a multi-million dollar company, in which this could possibly (not saying it will) force them to go bankrupt. I just want you guys to see it from their point of view, and realize that maybe they arent actually being jack-asses.

I agree with this but if you think about it Sony didn't do anything wrong legally although it was a dickhead move. When they removed OtherOS after the 3.15 update, you didn't HAVE to update. You could of stayed on the previous firmware and continued using OtherOS as some have. When you buy the PS3 you own that shit. But you have to subscribe to their online service PSN separately and that has it's own terms of service and what not.

I totally see where you guys are comin from, but my issue is that they came out and really SOLD this thing as an open platform.

Priced accordingly of course. Then removed the option.

Which incidentally is the illegal part.

Desmond i understand many people have had to remain on the old firmwares to keep they're software, but this then impedes the ps3's main function as a console. Some of the latest games will not run on the old firmware, Sony have ensured this. Resulting in the need for a second console if you want the OtherOS function you paid for.
Meaning you've now paid for it twice.

Who's the winner in this scenario?

All these things aside, there were aspiring devs/coders/programmers out there that lost they're own hard work when 'SONY' decided to remove the function, then had to buy another console to continue. I am trying to see this from as many different angles as i can but the more i dig and speak to ppl, the more it the scales tip in favor of us, the consumer.

I appreciate that no one really wants sony to go down, least of all me coz i love my ps3, but again i wont stand by while they publicly rip off they're customers. (Allowing others to follow suit and scam us all again)

They could come clean and apologize quite easily, i.e. all they would have to do is give everyone who has/has had or ever will have an online account, a free £10PSN goodwill gesture for takin our, (paid for) rights without proper consent.

We should also all be able to agree that this so called good will gesture, would realistically cost sony nothing, would gain them lots of free publicity, regain lost faith, and most likely attract more people to the PSN, invariably creating more custom.

ALL GOOD THINGS NO? (FREE ASWELL?)

My only conclusions, so far, for their conduct is greed or pig ignorance.

In any case, this is the all powerful Sony we are talkin about here, surely they could have fixed the security issue with software, not removed one of the consoles stand out features?!?

THANKS TO LEGITMOD FOR MORE INSIGHT AND THE LEGAL SOURCE FOR THE CLASS ACTION IN THE U.S.
LEGAL SOURCE IS HERE, ITS A LONG INFURIATING READ, BUT DEFINATELY KNOWLEDGE WORTH HAVING!!!
