(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Can someone please walk me thru the process of setting up an external hdd for backing up and running games... I took it out of the box and hooked it up to the ps3, completely skipping the computer.. My ps3 doesn't even see it.. I thought it would atleast see something ... But, not in MultiMAN, file manager, or XMB... Nothing.... Can someone please help me with how i need to get it to work and the ps3 to recognize it

Did you try backup one of your games to it? press circle and it will ask do you want to copy to internal, say no, then it should ask to copy to the external.
Mine is formatted to FAT32 if that helps ya.

You could plug it into your computer to make sure it is working too.

first format the HD to FAT32 you can create in the HD GAMES folder and put your backup games in there MultiMAN should recognise all the games in the HD and start playing from your external HD good luck.

Connect it to your pc and re-partion it. Use this freeware software; You must login or register to view this content..
Format it to a FAT32 filesystem(which you cant do with windows itself) and create a folder "GAMES" in capital letters and drag your games into games folder so it become's:
X:/GAMES/BLES000001
X:/GAMES/BLES999999
X:/ is your harddrive. Thats how you prepare your HDD.

Didnt think you could do that on any external hdd larger then 32gb?

Pretty sure you need a 3rd party application to format to fat32 if larger then 32gb Smile

Very easy, you get a HDD first and format it to FAT32. The HDD should automatically be NTFS Smile

I'm having a problem, I can't seem to get my external hard drive to FAT32 when I use a program to format it to FAT32, The hard drive becomes unusable. Any suggestions?

Use the link i provided in a earlier post. AESUS partition master. This works good. If it becomes unusable you are doing something wrong or the HDD is broken. DONOT format with windows itself, USE the software i gave! It doesnt cost a penny.
