I took it out of the box and hooked it up to the ps3, completely skipping the computer.. My ps3 doesn't even see it.. I thought it would atleast see something ... But, not in MultiMAN, file manager, or XMB... Nothing.... Can someone please help me with how i need to get it to work and the ps3 to recognize it

Ok so your program worked! however, my hard drive still doesn't show up on my PS3, any idea why?

i said it erlier it WILL not function by just formatting it with a third party program it needs too ba fully wiped because there are programs that are preinstalled on the drive that clash with the ps3 ever since the 3.4x update to prevent jailbreakers or somthing

ok download fat32format drop it in c drive
then go to run then type in CMD then click ok then type "CD /D C:\" : \ in the command window hit enter then type "fat32format X:" X is just an example MAKE SURE U CHOOSE the right drive then hit enter AND BAM YOUR done it worked for me on a western digital those things are C U N TS!

Its a GUI, So theirs not need for CMD Prompt Commands. I recommend once you format it to FAT32 do not plug it ever back into your computer.. Because using windows 7 if you plug it in it will automatically format it.. If you wish to access files on it Use FTP Dev_USB006/ Dev_USB002 / Dev_USB007

I used it and formatted my 500GB Seagate External Hard Drive to FAT32 without a problem.. I hooked it up to my multi USB Connector and Boom it worked.

Yeah ur right, mine is WD hard drive so it has all this sh*t preinstalled :/ i'll let u know if ur method worked for me thanks!

yep that preinstalled shit is whats interfearing just follow my instructions and your good man u dont need to install anything just drop it in c drive and follow what i said

Next time, it would be GREAT te tell us that the HDD has crap on it pre-installed by western digital. WD has applications on their site for their drives to format it to FAT32. As for the other posts providing software; It all does the same!

If you have an "ELEMENT" harddrive, you can use this utillity i believe;
