(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Can someone please walk me thru the process of setting up an external hdd for backing up and running games... I took it out of the box and hooked it up to the ps3, completely skipping the computer.. My ps3 doesn't even see it.. I thought it would atleast see something ... But, not in MultiMAN, file manager, or XMB... Nothing.... Can someone please help me with how i need to get it to work and the ps3 to recognize it

Well if it comes back after formatting, its build in its firmware. I have it too with usb sticks, and they just work perfect on my ps3. Even my fingerprint-secure usb stick (which has it's own app to grant access by print) and that too works on ps3. Maybe he should resize the harddrive and make a new partition with fat32. I got an external HDD 250NTFS 250FAT32. Ohwell, well see what he does.

The one you got now works too, if it isnt defect... You just dont know how to use it. But for the lazy-ness, yes, return it.

Trust me man it wasn't laziness. After doing extensive research on the internet, it turns out that the new WD my passport hard drive won't work with the PS3 because of the 3.0/2.0 USB feature. I got me a seagate free agent go flex and worked right away without any hassle.
