(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); hey guys, over the festive period, i have taught myself how to solder,

so i soldered a progskeet to one of my ps3 slims.

took some pictures, was quite involved........ but well worth the experience. i have got pretty confident with soldering now.

the best tip i can give somebody that attempts this? ............ patiance, take your time, and check each and every connection before powering up.

works 100% and i am very happy with the results.

i wouldnt call that dual boot actually as its a lot more effort to flash and you are only using the ps3's own flash memory, but it is kinda like in a dual boot situation (provided a new hdd is used for each flash of course). the only advantage is that e3 has onboard flash which can be used to store an alternate firmware so it is a lot quicker to switch firmwares (flick of a switch and swap of an hdd). with progskeet you have a longer wait till it flashes the firmware and of course the obvious need for a pc to flash the firmware from as well.

in fact the more i think about it neither system is actually dual boot as both solutions require a different hdd for each flash/change of firmware.

im not coming down on progskeet because it is amazing and works for almost anything that uses nor or nand memory, but the obvious advantage that e3 has with onboard memory, and a clip that comes with it so no soldering either does make it the best choice. i still would choose progskeet as e3 is quite a bit more expensive and i can solder well enough to use it.
