(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so as we all know GeoHot has done it , and there is all the more reason to believe him ! He hacked the iPhone 2G and managed to unlock it two days after it was released. But back to the ps3 , hmmmm hack what does that mean ? Well im sure as help you idea of hacking is "OMFG FREE GAMES !" . That is wrong ! what this leads to in reverse engineering. This leads to understand how the playstation works. It took Geroge over 3 years and we still know very little. We need to find out how to fake signatures on the ps3. We need to take baby steps. He said he will release the hack soon but only time will tell. Free games are still a long way off. Its a lengthy process to rip playstation games , we dont even know if we can fake repacking them. All i can say for sure is that free games are a long way off.

Sorry, but who said i was after pirate games?? I said i wanted to run homebrew (like what was possible on the PSP). Sure it was possible to run pirated games on the PSP but what im talking about is running programs, customising interfaces, and just customising your PS3 to your own liking. Whats wrong with that?:p

P.S i bought my PS3 3 years ago and have bought about 20 games over that time...not exactly "only interested in pirated games" eh?

Yes. To be honest I don't think it will take off :( One thing I would love someone to work out is how to decrypt the hard drive so we can recover data from hard drives in PS3's that have "died". Sony are just asking for that to happen as well :L I recently phoned them to ask them if there was any way to recover data (even though I know the answer is no, for now) and the reply I was given was "No. Unless you can find some kind of computer wizz who can work out how to decrypt the encryption on the hard drive". That was almost word for word what the guy told me o.O now try tell me they aren't asking for it???

GeoHot has failed us all
he boasted to much about what he could do with his custom firmware...
and because of him we cant put on other OS's on our ps3s
i lost all my respect for him
