Any way i can do this without a component or hdmi thingy in my computer?

have u got any inputs like s vid on ur comp if u have get a wire for the ps3 using that if not
you can get a converter (but im not sure they work)
or u can use a dvr recorder and plug it into that instead

For some stupidly annoying reason, i cant record my PS3 on my dvd, ive set it up alright and yes it is a recorder, im not that stupid lol

check your plugging the wires into ur dvr in inputs sockets not outputs ones

no thats an inputs socket (it will just display the pc image on ur tv )
